Dr. Pepper is good stuff. Mr. Pibb is better. However, the resurrected Norka Root Beer and Cherry-Strawberry are miles ahead of the big names.
There is nothing wrong with Vernor's. I'll have to search out Norka. I'm a sucker for a good root beer.
Root beer, ginger beer, birch beer... I will say, I was very, very skeptical of Norka's Cherry-Strawberry, thinking it would be cloyingly sweet and shitty. It surprised the hell out of me. Quite good stuff.
Oh Shit Bill. Them's fightin' words! Diet Dr. Pepper is a gift from god and Vernors is THE premier Gingerale. I'm not even going to debate you, cuz I'm 1000% correct. Did you know Canada Dry can says its made with "Real Ginger" but only contains a tiny microscopic amt? For me it is Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke. But I understand one's loyalty to the other. I'm a Creme Soda, Birch Beer, Saspirilla, Draft Root Beer connessuer as well. In my opinion Sweet Carrot has best line-up of fountain sodas in town. I'm also a big fan of Jarritos - favorite being Pina. Washes down street tacos effectively.
And have you tried to make a Crown & ginger with frikkin Vernors? Its like drinking Listerine on the rocks. It probably destroys brain cells and your ability to reproduce. But nooooooooooo, not you. You're busy drinking cream soda and Birch Beer. Tell me, does that shit come with a complimentary tampon ?
Ah now additives - that changes things. I concur Vernors mixed with any alcohol is no bueno. The Canada Dry Cranberry Ginger Ale works very nicely for a hot summer day mix with many spirits over ice. But you got me thinking wonder what birch beer and say a bourbon would taste like? Or maybe a creme soda & tequila & campari or maybe even with Jameson. I'll get back to you on that.
I’ve heard that Listerine is better at room temperature. On the rocks makes it too cold and just robs it of all flavor.
Did you go to the First Four? I went to my kitchen to wash some dishes and Prairie View was up by 11. I came back into the office and Fairleigh Dickinson was up by about ten or something. Yikes.
I went to the Big Hoopla party and may have enjoyed too much Truth to make the shuttle to the games. I'll try again tomorrow night.
I'm so excited for the last phase of the arena renovation. I actually felt a little lost at my first game this season. I've walked the same route to my parents' seats for as long as I can remember.
Even from the outside the building looks so much more impressive. I was a little wary about the renovation but I'm coming around.
My wife and I are going to the game tomorrow. It's about a 20-minute walk from our house so we try to make one First Four session a year.
I've come up with a Crew Cat chant (to the tune of "The Wild Rover") I've played the feral Crew Cat for manys the year and spent Kyle Crew's money on microbrew beer but now I've returned with Golry in great store and I never will play the feral Crew Cat no more And it's no, nae, never no, never, no more will I play the feral Crew Cat no, never no more I'm hoping to extend this into a full song.
Go get a room at the Travelodge, find a nice 6 to 5 blackjack table and then go chug Ass Juice at the Double Down. And be sure to buy "puke insurance"
You say Ass Juice at the Double Down like it's a bad thing. I've had many great nights in that fine, fine establishment. Doesn't change the fact that with all our wonderful American whiskeys that mix well with ginger ale, Bill Archer chooses Crown. What's next, poutine over garbage plates?
