High of 40. Precipitation possible. St. Patrick's Day and a huge parade in Dublin, starting at 11am. 2pm kickoff.
Not saying there aren't valid reasons for it. I'll be there, but I'll be complaining about how cold it is the entire time haha.
I've been tracking game by game, year over year, Crew attendance since 2014. By and large, there isn't a strong correlation between 2nd game attendance and overall season attendance. 2016 is the only year from 2014-2017 where the rank of the four second game attendance marks is the same as the overall average per game attendance for that year. First. In 2014, our 2nd game had an attendance of 12,045 which is 2nd best, but the season average was 16,881 which was 3rd out of the four seasons. 2015 had the worst 2nd game attendace, but the season was the second best. There's no doubt this game is going to have terrible attendance. This game is ALWAYS in the bottom quartile of per game attendance. 2014: 15/18; 2015: 20/20; 2016: 10/17 (best year); 2017: 18/19 (19th was a Wed); 2018: 17/18 (18th was a Wed). Again, I believe anything over 12k is a win in management's eyes. I have no inside information to base that on, I'm just trying to see it through there eyes.
The stadium FB page put out the notice: "Columbus Crew SC supporters: be prepared for heavier traffic than usual tomorrow for #CLBvFCD. Supporters with VIP Lot and B Lot parking passes should enter off of Hudson St. (Exit 112). All other supporters should enter off of 17th ave. (Exit 111)."
Exactly. The bright side is that we're all out of there by 6 or 7 at this time of year, vs a 7:30 kickoff.
This is my nagging concern too. Also I feel this week, management knew it was going to be a badly attended game. They barely advertised for this one (usually all my cookies give me crew ads but not this time). Feel this was to smartly manage resources. This game is always bad. In 2016 the second game was in april, in ohio that's a 10-30°difference. It's also FC Dallas and spring break. I also wonder if some southern ohio fans are going to check out the FC Cincy game on sunday. I am going because my girlfriend had free tickets.
I exchanged my season ticket for a June game with my whole family. I had a stupid busy week and the weather didn't look comfortable for my 5 year old.
Maybe we should have moved to Austin...also this will piss everyone off but F it. Since I’ve moved here I maintain the fact that Columbus is a bad sports town. Outside of Ohio State football nobody really gives a sh^t about anything else. Even OSU fans would be off the train if they lost a few games as most are just bandwagon jumpers anyway. Under 10k should never happen...never! The excuses need to stop. Either support your team/city or go be a fake ass Man U fan if that suits your poser EPL soccer needs, like it actually matters.
Me, too. And I know there were some non-STHs there. More like 9k STHs. Well, we have got a long way to go. I will say Pat Onstad stopped & said hi to us at the tailgate.
Go piss up a rope. We have about a decade of shitty ownership to blame here. Yeah, we absolutely need to do better here but god damn, we spent a year working our asses off trying to keep the team here. Maybe we all need to start working just as hard promoting this team as well.
Excuses! Do not need a sell out but come on! We can’t get over 10k!?! You guys are sad if you accept this and most likely suck at everything you do if you constantly blame others.
Columbus is a fair weather sports town. No one wants to go and sit out in freezing temps. I mean, I do, and you all reading this do. Dress appropriately and there is no issue. I was not really cold at all the whole day. I layered up. The wind made things chilly, the spotty sun made it toasty and warm. In this town the club is not forecast agnostic, and I think they are all pussies for it, but I can't help the way it is. Don't go on about OSU football with me. It has a 100+ year tradition plus the only time the weather approaches this crap is at the end of a season and if the Bucks are in it, people are out.
One more thing. I don't want to hear anyone...ANYONE...bitch about attendance if you were not there yourself.
Worth noting that STMs exchanging out tickets could lead to a total attendance less than the number of STMs. I exchanged out one of my 3 seats from this game and I can't imagine I was close to the only one.
I am drunk yes and sick of all the excuses. Speaking of POTUS, we would not have him if all the people who didn’t like him actually voted. These are most likely the same people making excuses for -10k attendance. Don’t shoot the messenger if your life is sad and you consistently point the finger at others for your (our) own issues.
Explains everything. Go to bed early tonight dude and apologize in the morning. I’ll make you some coffee and pancakes.
Attendance was shit. I was there with my almost 2y/o and the weather wasn’t that bad. Town is full of excuses unless it’s OSU pointyball.
Okay, I usually am pretty calm here but come on. If you are this fair weather of a fan feel free to hop on/off the bad wagon whenever you want but please leave the rest of us alone. I know no one was thrilled with attendance. However, we are starting over at zero from a brand building and sales perspective. If you want to build something as a fan and contribute to the dialogue cool. If you are just going to give up every time we don't immediately succeed then please leave the discussion of how we fix this and improve things to everyone else.
