now that CQ is gone. i think we should hire an attacking coach, but at the same time, maintain the defensive discipline that CQ instilled in the team. when CQ came to Iran we were in a transitional stage without much attacking quality. but in the past few years we have accumulated some firepower. i want us to play this formation: -----------azmoun------------ --taremi--------------jahanbakhsh ------------ghoddos----------- ----ezatollahi---ebrahimi------ mimo---------------------ramin ---------PAG---hosseini-------- -----------beiro-------------- if it needs to be more less offensive/more balanced: -taremi-----azmoun--jahanbakhsh- ---hajsafi-ezatollahi-ebrahimi-- mimo----------------------ramin ---------PAG---hosseini-------- -----------beiro-------------- or --------------azmoun------------ ------ghoddos-jahanbakhsh---- ---hajsafi-ezatollahi-ebrahimi--- mimo---------------------ramin ----------PAG----hosseini-------- --------------beiro-------------- i think with these formations, we can maximize our return on our players. one problem under CQ was that jahanbakhsh could not thrive in the team because we played too defensive. if jahanbakhsh plays as a mainly attacking midfielder/borderline right wing forward, he can replicate his form which saw him become the eredivisies top scorer. at the same time, these formations give taremi a chance to pair up with azmoun, which has proven pivotal. the first formation also allows ghoddos to play... he can be an offensive asset for us. under CQ he did not get much playing time. as long as we can keep our defensive composure and not give up easy goals again like we did before CQ came (those times we played nice attacking football but never had a good defense), we can continue our dominance in asia and try a new more balanced approach for the world cup after 2 back to back similar defensive tournament performances under CQ. i mean at this stage i dont think we have anything to lose... no coach can perfect the defensive style better than CQ, so we might as well play a little more attacking in WC2022 and see what happens. it may backfire, but there is also a chance we might win a game or 2 and advance to the round of 16 for the first time.
Questions: When are we going to get a new coach? Who do you expect to be the new coach?
Who's a realistic manager that people want? Seems like everyone is highly against Branko or any domestic manager.
We have talented local coaches but It is not the right time to have a local coach. So IMO the next coach should be a foreigner. I take Branko if and only if they do not find anyone better than him outside Iran but realistically they should be able to do that.
Most Iran football fans believe that It should be a decent foreign coach but not necessarily very big and expensive one. For me, some realistic choices are Luis Garcia, Roberto Donadoni, Peter Stoger, Paul Le Guen, etc.
Hajsafi? Taremi? Seriously Rezaeian? IMO Moharrami is our best RB at the moment. Unfortunately he missed the AC due to injury.
yes but he is the best domestic coach, foreign coaches dont have an understanding of irans football to start. so the first games are slow which was visible with CQ failing in the first few years, this starts a bad momentum which most third-rate low division european coaches will not recover from, carlos did, though.
We should play with one central forward. Azmoun and Kaveh Rezaei are my first two choices if they are fit. The others should compete for last/third choice. Hajsafi is not left back. He is not good enough for winger as well. I think LDM/LCM is the best position for him but Amiri and Gholizadeh can play in that position as well and both of them are much better than him.
Are you Perspolisi (Perspolis fan)? IMO he Yahya is not among top local head coaches either. Even Perspolis and Esteghlal do not trust the likes of Golmohammadi at the moment. Almost everybody believe that the new coach should be a decent foreign coach and Taj said they are thinking on foreign coaches at the moment. Lets hope we get a decent foreign coach. Nekounam, Hashemian, Chamanian, Yahya, etc. can be some great choices to be the assistant manager of the next head coach.
Some available decent foreign coaches: 1. Laurent Blanc (Is it realistic to consider him as one of the choices?) 2. Felix Magath 3. Juan Antonio Pizzi 4. Peter Stoger 5. Roberto Donadoni 6. Paul Le Guen 7. Michael Laudrup
IFF will 100% not reach meaningful negotations with any of those managers, they'll probably try to get Schafer or similiar
Why? I reviewed Paul Le Guen's resume again and totally agree with Suren01. Not only he did well with Oman, won three league titles with Lyon when he coached them from 2002-2005. He finished 6th place in the league with PSG but PSG finished 13th place after his de I would definitely be happy with Paul Le Guen. Paul Le Guen > Carlos Queiroz. God knows how much I am happy that CQ left. I was counting days for his departure. In last a few days, I listened to many happy musics because of my happiness for his departure. I was never his fan and always believed that he is not a head coach. IMO CQ is only a good assistant manager. I even feel that a cancerous tumor was removed from Iran football. Everybody knows how low the likes of me and Valkyrie rate CQ.
I meant He finished 6th place in the league with PSG but PSG finished 15th in the league before his appointment and 13th place after his departure.
Is Katanec staying? Are you satisfied with him? Paul Le Guen is good but I think there are better options than him.
Katanec did a very good job in a short span of time. He'll probably stay with his staff sacked, but that's fine for me.
Iran has been linked with Herve Renard. Not a bad choice. https://www.tehrantimes.com/news/434081/Herve-Renard-candidate-for-next-coach-of-Iran-Report
