I like what I have seen of all three on film.
Fuentes seems to be a good defender with very good slide tackling timing and position. Looks a bit awkward going forward though.

Diaz looks like a good option if we go with one striker and wingers.

    Lineup I want to see:

    -------------Ospina----------

    Arias---Mina----Sanchez----C.Borja

    ----------Barrios-------Lerma/Uribe

    ----------JuanFer---------James

    ---------Falcao-----------Duvan--------

Lineup I would not mind experimenting with if we must go with one striker in one of the games:

    -------------Ospina----------

    Arias---Mina---Sanchez----C.Borja

    ----------Barrios-------Lerma------

    -------------------James------------

    ---Villa----------Falcao--------Muriel/Diaz-------

Crazy tactical lineup based on what Portuguese and Iran fans say about his coaching style:

    -------------Ospina----------

    Arias---Mina----Tesillo----C.Borja

    ----------Barrios-----Lerma------

    -Palacios---------------------------Machado--

    -------------------James--------------------------

    -------------------Falcao---------------

    Duván Zapata (Atalanta, Italia)
    Luis Fernando Muriel (Fiorentina, Italia)

    My Starting 11:

    ---------------VARGAS ---------

    Arias----Mina ----Sanchez ----Borja

    -------------------Lerma------------------

    --------Cuellar --------------------------

    Quintero ---------James -------Muriel

    ----------------Falcao

While Mina's form has been low, the CB spine has to be fortified and these 2 men have to continue to get as many minutes together as possible.
Lerma would be my 1 single DFM with Cuellar playing a bit more freely. I know what Uribe can bring to that position but I'm hoping we find the same with Cuellar. No way Falcao doesnt start this 1st match. I would also love to see Quintero and James more but Diaz or Villa can also provide lots of options and speed on the wings. Both asian teams play fast counters.

If Queiroz wants my respect he need to start taking risks from the get go. I want James to play the Regista role with Barrios or Lerma as the Defensive midfield, Quintero and one between Díaz and Villa to provide width, and lastly two strikers, preferably Muriel being one of them.

I would love James in that role, but Queiroz is a defensive minded coach. I doubt he goes for that

I'm probably most eager to see what midfield combination CQ uses in the upcoming friendlies:

    1. Barrios-Lerma: i would be disappointed to see this duo for a friendly (maybe in the 2nd half of an official game to lock down a score)

    2. Barrios-Uribe: Probably the preferred duo come Copa America time? good mix of defense and b2b.

    3. Lerma-Uribe: i would like to see as an option at some point. I can see Barrios having to sit out a game from time to time b/c of card accumulation.

    4. Cuellar-Uribe: highly unlikely that both Barrios/Lerma would be on sidelines at same time unless there were some card accumulation

    5. Cuellar-Barrios-Lerma: yikes?

    6. Lone CM - No F'n Way

    thoughts?

i like this lineup. i have a feeling the staff is fully aware of what Uribe is capabale of, so it would make sense for GC to get some playing time in a low-pressure environment. i can see Luis Diaz/Villa subbing in for Muriel/Quintero if we are in the driver's seat and Duvan going in for Falcao and then the next game start Duvan and Falcao together?

Love the first lineup of course, only that I would give Arboleda to start in one of those two matches. Other than that I'm good, especially with the two strikers thing. It's about time that we will play with two strikers. Also, prefer Uribe instead of Lerma next to Barrios.

    Another lineup can be

    -------------Ospina----------

    Arias---Mina----Sanchez----C.Borja

    ----------Barrios-------------/Uribe

    James------------------------------Diaz

    ---------Falcao-----------Duvan-------

It's too bad Cuadrado is hurt ...

I just once would like to see Cuadrado Cardona James and Quintero line up with 2 forwards....

But for this one.. I would love if he could just try a 352 and then later can go back to a four man backline at the end of the game..

Why not....

Based on the video posted in the National Team thread ...

.. the jerseys Queiroz lifted up could be the starting eleven::

    --------------Ospina------------

    Arias---------Mina----Sanchez---Machado

    ----------------Barrios------Uribe-----

    ------------JuanFer--------James----

    ------------Falcao----------------Muriel

I posted this in the other thread, I think Queiroz will go with a more English style approach of football.

    4-5-1

    ----------------Ospina----------------
    Arias---Sanchez--Tesillo---Borja
    -----------Barrios---Uribe-----------
    Villa-----------James-----------Diaz
    ----------------Falcao-----------------

I like your line up except I would put Muriel instead of Villa on the wing and is time for Falcao to come off the bench for Zapata.

Duvan had a pretty poor Asian tour last time that is for sure. Even against Chine he looked pretty average to me.

Hopefully he looks better this time around.

yep. But to be fair, all of the boys stunk it up specially vs Korea. They looked awfully tired and disinterested. I've said it before, these are long long trips and really take so much physically out of our players. That time differential alone is brutal.

Japan will reveal their roster tomorrow.

I am very interested to see what kind of team they call up since they are preparing for the Copa America too.
They may play a totally different lineup than what we saw in Russia, especially since many of the Euro club based players will not be allowed to play in the Copa.

According to FIFA rules a club team is not obligated to release a player for two International Cups in one year.
So since Japan has already played in the Asian Cup in January the Euro Clubs have every right to say no to the Japanese players who want to play in the Copa.

That said, there are some Clubs who won't care that much and may allow them to play. Maybe guys who did not get much playing time or guys who are not major contributors. It will be very interesting to see which players based in Europe will be on the Copa Roster.

Since this is a FIFA date though they could call ALL Euro based players in theory but it would be kind of counter-productive in my opinion if they are not allowed to play in the Copa.

    Edit*

Here is an article from a few weeks back that mentions what the Japanese manager has had to deal with::

I despise echoing CRZD...but are they even scouting?

The guy's been on the bench half of Cruzeiro's matches in the state tournament and he had no minutes in Libertadores.

There are kids to experiment with in Colombia, but no. This guy plays in a foreign league...
