Attendance is gonna drop unless the on field product improves.

Good vibes or not, casual Columbus fans don't spend good money and travel hours to watch an 8th or 9th place side.

This reminds me a bit of 2016. There is an opportunity to capitalize on really good vibes. They can't blow it. There can't be a "well, in 3 years we have a new stadium...." That's not good enough.

They can't fall on their face here again. Give the people something to cheer for. Fake captains arm bands don't move the attendance needle enough.

At least didnt start season by losing to portland then philly (philly game was awful). Kinda think haslam's will need to keep generating interest and may have to sign a big name guy or maybe a like really old big name, until the stadium. Then buy big again. Too bad really old big names dont make good players. Cough Landon cough

Dude, Crew had 68% possession and there were easily 3-4 near goals that were inches off going in net - I know cuz I was there. Crew were far more dominant and will be great this year. The goals will come and wins will result. But ya sit in your armchair in NY and spout your BS & negativity all you want. This squad is good.

Attendance confirmed at 17.9k it's the largest crowd since 2012 and the 2nd largest crowd in ten years.

Honestly I think this was an amazing result. With snow the day before we came within 700 tickets of the ten year record. We broke every attendance record under Precourt and more than recovered since last year.

We are so good that we got beat by a B squad.

Meram and Santos would be good players off the bench but we need 2 quality wingers and a Real DP that is a absolute difference maker a world class attacking player to replace Pedro. We need better players on the starting XI and our B team should be able to do what NYRB just did to us.

Seriously Porter has inherited a average team. Steffens leaving is not going to help he was of our few bright spots once he is gone it is only going to be harder to Win with this roster

Seriously what game did you watch? I just rewatched whole game. Other than about a 5 min span in first half (30-35th) Crew were better team by large margin. There were a # of unforced turnovers for sure but that was on both sides of ball and if you watch any of the other games across league, you'll see same thing - it's week 1.

And don't fool yourself, we aren't getting a world-class DP - and certainly not at Santos's salary.

After watching it again Sanch needs to stay on his damn feet. Either he is weak as hell or a drama queen. I can't stand diving in soccer. The Trapp yellow was a dive!

Oh and BTW we didn't lose.

Everybody needs to chill the F out. Do y’all think Dee, Dr. Pete and Bez are going to just sit on their hands and accept average? They literally took over 2 months ago. They brought people in from Cleveland because they didn’t have enough staff to even run the basics of the stadium. I’m sure signings are coming in the summer window.

Oh. 68% possession??!?! Against Red Bulls B team? 3-4 inches away from multiple goals!?!?!

    The goals will come!!!!!

But yes. Red Bulls came in and started 3 first choice players. And we are making excuses for Santos not staying on his feet. We are blaming the refs. We aren't even mentioning the Red Bulls goal called back.

We are talking about 68% possession as if Armas and the Red Bulls came in thinking that in order to get a point they needed to win the possession battle by a certain percentage margin.

At least we didn't lose to Red Bulls B.

    How embarrassing.....

So I, for one, was impressed with the attendance.

Why don't you just become a Red Bull fan? You truly are an insufferable defeatist. You must be a real peach to be in a relationship/live with.

Quick question that might help me understand how the hell you see the game the way you do - have you even ever played the game?

    Attendance was amazing.

Our play was not. To pretend this was a good result is a farce. But if you want to talk more, take it to the game thread.

I'm gonna assume this question was directed at the individual who repeatedly asks, "did you even watch the game?" or, "what game did you watch?"

I have enough faith in you to believe that you would have expected a better performance vs Red Bulls B side, and maybe realize we were a whisker of an offsides call away from not even gaining a single point.

If it's directed at me, I had a shitty day and don't suffer fools kindly. It is what it is.

But back to the initial point of the thread.....is that the kind of performance that is gonna inspire a string of 19-20k in attendance every week? Probably not, because in Ohio people don't spend good money to see a below average soccer team in a subpar league no matter who the owner is.

A draw at home is dropping Points it’s a disappointing result ask Porter. It feels like a loss because it was their B team vrs our 1st choice. It is down right embarrassing that we could not muster a goal in the run of play. I was so glad they called offside on NYRB because I was behind that goal and it looked legit live ( could have been my angle) But in no way did we did mínate this match specifically in the first half. We played better in the second but they were content with a draw and they got it.

We need to be a CCL team and draw with our B team . But to have a team do that to us is embarrassing and unacceptable. The players let us down. Would have like Pedro taken out but other than that Porter has his hands tied. This roster is average you need guys who can finish in the run of play and we got 1 guy who does that and 1 playmaker who is near the end of his career .

We are average , our team is average and it hurt to watch that game. They are going to need to win at NE

As much as I love the Crew, that was a tough game to watch. For everyone wondering - I watched the same game as you.

I’d like to see the stats on unforced errors. It seemed like we had so many bad passes. So so many.

Zardes needs to time his runs a bit better. I expect an aggressive forward to be offsides a few times but come on man, let’s be a bit more aware of the defensive line.

Outside mids need replaced. I don’t know if we have anything better on the roster and that is scary. I want Meram to play well. He seems like he’s lost something and I’m not sure what. Is it confidence? Is it something else altogether? I hope he pulls it together but I’m losing faith in him. Santos is a problem. He needs replaced.

And time of possession is a great stat. I understand we want to possess the ball. Great. Our coach also said he wanted to be more dangerous or something like that. We did not look dangerous. We looked vulnerable yesterday against a B team.

I expect there were some nerves. Probably a few guys felt pressure to play a great game for the fans. That pressure got to them.

Finally, I expect we will improve. Coach Bot is programmed for continuous improvement. He has already run the algorithms and will be instructing the lads for an optimal performance next game.

It was just 1 game!!! Perfect? - nope. But the sky is not falling. Try to reserve your judgement until you seen a better sample. They even said it on Sounders game that unforced turnovers are commonplace in first game of season - across league. If it continues, then we have a problem.

Also - to a man the guys interviewed after the game said it wasn't good enough. They weren't satisfied with a draw. They want 3 points ever single time. That drive will propel the team to lots of Ws.

New guy needs to get his stamina up...I'll take him over Private Sanch trying to cross the ball like a U-8.

God as my witness there is no excuse for that fail.

Let us be accurate & precise, you are talking for openers only. Say what you mean.

Having said that, attendance wise, I agree this is a good result. Nearly 18k on a chilly March afternoon.

Next game vs NE will be a test. Not the opener, no big names, weather still likely crappy.

On the down side, looked like some lightbulbs were missing & the Fre still needs a fresh coat of paint in a lot of places (stairs).
