I'm just glad that we are talking about attendance prediction for out 2019 season opener.

Going to play the devil’s advocate here, are we really talking about 16-17k being good? I understand that the weather isn’t ideal and other events in area, but at what point are they just excuses? With as much hype and attention we’ve seen the last few months, I honestly expected this to be a no brainer sell out. And looking at Ticketmaster doesn’t make me feel like that is close to happening.

It's a shocker we even have a season. New guys only had from January to get everything together, including new team president, coach, technical director, ownership. We haven't even started with corporate ticket sales. Many of the fans weren't able to buy tickets at the lower rates because they were locked out by not buying season tickets in 2018 due to the Precourt thing.

You take a shower to get rid of the Precourt stank before you get dressed up.

I don’t disagree with the points you made, just seemed like there was going to be enough momentum to carry us to a sell out. Maybe we’ll see a large walk up crowd tomorrow and hit the sell out range, maybe we’ll ‘just’ have 16-17k enthusiastic fans celebrating having a 2019 season. Either way, I can’t wait until tomorrow afternoon.

I think that wanting sellouts is exactly the right mindset to have. And I think we are working towards getting more of them. We just need a bit more time (and staff)

My guess is 18,500. Its high, its aggressive...and I couldn't care less.

Right now in my tracking, we have sold around 16,600 tickets. However, I think this might be low and I hope so.

Either way I cannot wait for tomorrow.

This should be an energy packed crowd. Almost all the resale tickets on Ticketmaster and StubHub were gone; there were tons of tickets on stubhub this week. I still wonder about sections of the upper deck and 120 & 112. Earlier this week thought 16k was a stretch now think 17k is too little. Will be impressive given everything, just dont want trolls.

Just so I know that I am on the same playing field, will the reported attendance number be inflated?

Dad says the place will sell out. I hope so. I have my doubts. Though I suppose anything can happen on the magical day of Crewsmas.

Dear Guille, yes. I loathe MLS and they deserve zero support from the great folks in Columbus but I'm guessing 17.5K will feel like 50K. That place is going to rock tomorrow.

If we can come close to 18,000 in 40 degree weather, this is going to be an excellent season attendance wise.

Yes. They will report tickets distributed/sold and not actual gate count.

They just released a bunch of lower bowl tickets. Like 20 in some sections. Hope they make a bunch of corporate calls this week.

My final count is 16,400 sold/distributed. If we get 1,000 walk up, that's a helluva crowd. And I honestly think my assumptions are conservative. Logically, I think that by now, given the demand and game day, they've actually released all the seats in the stadium for sale. However, my analytical side has not seen any evidence of tickets ever being available in certain parts of the stadium. Hence my model still holds back over 1,300 seats.

If we say I"m 100% wrong in that model assumption then my attendance estimate goes to 17,700 + 1,000 walk up, that's pretty dang cool.

It is unfathomable to me though that there is that much walk up demand. Naturally, I don't work in ticket ops and I don't know what we've trended in the past. But given the new ownership and strategies, I think you have to throw your trends out the window, or at the very least, weight them so they're less impactful to your predictions.

With the forecast improving, we might have a decent walk up crowd. If the Arnold weren't underway downtown, I think we could be pushing a sellout.

I'd say if our new owners had a full off season to prep for today, we'd be looking at a sell-out. Dr. Pete's comments about barely even starting corporate sales really highlights how much an under-staffed FO has had to do in two effing months to prepare for this match.

I know there's nothing to be gained from it, but in certain situations I can be petty: I'd really enjoy reading an honest story about in what bad shape PSV left the organization.

That would put us at the 2nd largest opener at Mapfre in the last 10 years and the 3rd largest opener of all time.

Still cant stand the trolls. Dont think they'll ever be won over. But definitely thought the crowd was great and about on average for all of mls, cutting off top 4 or so teams.

Did have people ask me at breakfast wait todays the home opener. Still need tons more advertising, particularly on like hulu or whatever cant be blocked by ad block.

And parking still sucks....the combo of Arnold and the game with 0 people directing traffic sucked. Took over a hour to escape that lot.
