Belenenses 2-0 Benfica quite a surprise. Benfica played more than enough to win the game, but somehow managed to lose this game. Rafa Silva has been playing superbly, he's clearly the best player for Benfica at the moment.
Hey Benfica fans, I have a quick question I was hoping you guys could answer for me really quickly. I am planning to go to Cape Verde Islands in March and it looks like one way to get there from Qatar is via Portugal. I was thinking to do a couple of days in Lisbon, then a couple of days in CV. Anyhoo, like I always do I went to see if there'd be any football in town and low and behold Porto vs Benfica is on Sunday, March 3! I know it's Estadio Drago, but this would definitely be one game worth staying an extra day or two for. I wanted to ask about tickets + possible restrictions to games. I'm on the Porto ticketing website and they don't seem to have tickets open for public purchase for anything but the upcoming 3 games. I guess that's normal? There are tickets available on Viagogo and other third parties but is this a safe bet? I just wanted to make sure that attending a game in Portugal is fairly straight forward, ie buy your ticket, go to the game, scan your ticket and the gate and watch the game. Or do they check for names on tickets, fan ID, etc stuff like that? I know it's90% chance the former, but pardon my naivety - I attended a Bologna vs Padova game last summer in Italy and they not once, but twice checked everyone's ID + name on ticket to make sure they matched. So I want to make sure it's not the same before going ahead and buying via a 3rd party. Thanks, and forca Benfica!
I'll say I'm grateful for the titles and how RV promoted youth but I can't recall a manager losing his locker room this badly for Benfica. These guys were putting such little effort into their games. Day and night difference with Bruno Lage's first game (he only had one training session) so I would say part of the 4-2 result came from these guys working harder. However to Bruno's credit he brought back the 442 which I love to see and made not only some early subs but the right subs too. Only concern I have is how bad Jardel and Ruben Dias have been this season. With Ruben, he's young and I have hope for him yet but I'm sick of Jardel, he's not going to improve much and I feel Conti or Lema can really offer this team something.
I've bought tickets from there before for the Taca Final (FA Cup) and I know someone who bought tickets to a Porto v Benfica game, also with no issues. Tickets will only go on sale to the public at best 2 weeks before the game, Portugal is stupidly weird with ticket sales. All those people that sell early are either season ticket holders or socios which get first access before they go on sale to the public. Careful if you are in a Porto section and wearing red, their fan base can be real dicks. Also if you buy on Viagogo plus given how late the tickets actually go on sale, don't expect to get the tickets in the mail, you will get them in person, it will likely be some random meeting spot like a hotel or cafe or something and in my case i only got them the day of and my friend got them the day before the game. No issues but don't book a full day knowing you have to meet up random somewhere to pick up tickets. Enjoy the trip, outside of their fan base, Porto is a nice city with great sights.

Cool thanks. Just one quick question, this game was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 3. Seems like it has suddenly been brought up a day to fall on Saturday, March 2 - is this true? If so, it actually works out well for me. I'll fly in Friday and maybe go straight to Porto, spend 2 nights there, see the game, then come back to Lisbon for a couple of nights before flying out.. makes better logistics. Anyway, if someone can confirm the game date change would be much appreciated. Cheers
Great win, it looks like Benfica are now the #1 contender to take the league title. I always thought that Porto didn't deserve it since their squad is really mediocre. Benfica's comeback is also a great news for the NT since coach Bruno Lage has been playing the wonder kids, João Félix, Ferro (finally a much awaited FB), Florentino Luis, Jota, and Gedson although he's been in the down-low compared to the beginning of the season. All that makes Portugal a serious contender at the Under20 WC this summer.
Congrats guys on the win. I just got back from the match. Like Porto (I mean the city), but will head off to Lisbon + Sintra tomorrow. Was an awesome experience attending an O' Classico, fortunately while I was sitting in the nosebleed seats, was located just a block away from your fans so was pretty watching the banter between the fans... your small section seemed to be outnoisining the home fans for large parts of the match. Anyway, here's your winning goal from the stands. Congrats!....
What an awesome experience for you. Despite my username, I love the city of Porto, it's actually where a lot of my family is situated. Enjoy Lisbon, and don't forget to pick up some pastéis de belém!
