I believe it's customary to start this kind of post with the disclaimer: "Mods, if this is supposed to be posted elsewhere, please feel free to move it." Anyway, I want to sell something at cost - a brand new, authentic, XL, yellow jersey from last season - and wanted to see if there was any interest among the rabble in here before posting it on ebay, etc. I detest shopping, but when I decide I want something, I tend to lose control of my senses until I've managed to acquire it. Couple that with a year's worth of pent-up lust to buy Crew gear (due to the Austin bullshittery), AND the news about Adidas no longer producing long-sleeve jerseys and... well, let's just say I've bought a few more Crew items than I legitimately have a personal use for. When I learned about the Adidas long sleeve jersey decision, I ended up buying three such jerseys: one XL authentic black long sleeve jersey at the Mapfre shop; and two of last year's authentic yellow long sleeve jerseys - one XL, one XXL - from an online retailer. Due to their scarcity (these jerseys are now unavailable, period), and my concerns about sizing, I got two sizes of the yellow. Oddly enough, the XXL yellow is only slightly larger than the XL black. The XL yellow fits, but the arms are tighter than the XL black (guess I have more manly arms than the average MLS player). Which is a long way of saying that I want to sell the XL yellow long sleeve jersey: $90, which is what I paid for it including shipping. It would have retailed at the Mapfre shop for $150 last season. Again, it's the authentic shirt, with a star above the crest and the "Charter Member # 01" tag at the hemline. Brand new, tags still on it. Looks like this: I have to say, I look marvelous in these jerseys. And maybe you can, too!!! PM me if interested.
May I ask how much that ran? Trying to determine if it fits in my budget and I know if I jump through the hoops to get to the stadium shop, I'll completely disregard the budget and justify the purchase regardless. And sorry I'm not interested in purchasing the extra yellow. I'm a L (in more ways than one, amirite high school bullies?) and I have a short sleeve yellow already. I will add to your sales pitch and say I wish mine was long sleeve. Banana kits are the best but I'm just looking to add a black kit to my collection.
That's ALWAYS the case. Every perfect Saturday is an off week, every dreary/cold/wet/etc Saturday is sure to be a home game. There are no casual Crew fans, only DIEHARDS! The schedule has literally been trying to kill us for years!
If I ever ran out of buns on one of my shifts, I think I would have just closed the store and quit. Fun story- for those unfamiliar with skyline, it uses an open kitchen. That means that you can see everything behind the line, how we make the food, etc. I like it, because it keeps us on our toes and ensures that we are keeping things clean and presentable. And it helps the customers know we aren't messing with their food. Well, one day, a guy comes in at 9:59 p.m., when we close at 10 p.m. Most managers I know told me they lock the doors a few minutes early, but I was a by the book guy. So this guy comes in, and he wants 13 cheese coneys. Cool. not a problem. Except we only have 12 hotdogs left. Usually, if we get a drive-thru order at night when we are short a dog or two, we will microwave a dog and use it, vs. having one grilled. Not the best solution, but its better than throwing out a ton of unused dogs at the end of the night, or making a person wait for a while for it to cook on the flat grill to temperature. Anyways, this guy was watching, and I wasn't about to nuke a hotdog in front of him. So I quickly just grabbed the hotdogs, and he got 12 cheese coneys and 1 chili cheese sandwich...sans hotdog. I had just had to work an open-to-close because the guy who was supposed to work the night shift called off, and my GM was a legit alcoholic who told me never to call him after 6 p.m. I felt a bit bad, but also realized, meh, by the time he realizes this, we will be closed, and my GM can deal with this tomorrow morning. Thankfully, I can say that this was honestly the worst thing I did in 6.5 years working there.
It was $160 minus the 10% season ticket holder discount. That was almost two weeks ago, though, and they only had a few left. That was not in my budget, by the way, but I completely disregarded that small fact. My justification was that I'll probably never have a chance to get a Crew LS jersey again.
Unless you manufacture that revolting runny meat juice on-site, your customers aren't seeing anything very relevant.
I can tell you that the chili comes in twice a week, and is cooked every morning. Really, on the french fries come in frozen. Spaghetti gets cooked in house every morning as well. Everything was fairly fresh.
I would tell a story of something similar i did while i was night manager for wendy's, but I think i have simply chosen to forget everything from my 5 years of employment.
I recall two back in the day... Clearwater on US19, and Ft Lauderdale on Federal. The one in Lauderdale was there in the 70s. I remember driving by and never going. I think my uncle stopped in every once in a while. My theory about the stores was that they were family run by members that immigrated into Florida. The one in Lauderdale is a couple of miles from the Greek church, and the one in Clearwater might as well be in Tarpon Springs. The other option was they were a tax write-off for when the went on vacation. Lord knows it's a lot nicer to dive for the cross on Epiphany in Tarpon than Cincinnati.
That used to be quite common. Any successful small chain of stores would have, like, 6 or 8 outlets across Ohio, Indiana and Michigan and then one in Florida someplace. You had to.figure that the owners gave that Florida store a lot of hands on personal attention. Particularly in the winter with that company owned beach condo.
I think there were also tax advantages to having a Florida store/office. Florida is very tax friendly to it's residence, it's only their tourist they try to gouge
My ex brother in law is a banker and worked for Liberty Savings and Loan in Wilmington. It's a small S&L with a few branches in SW Ohio. But it has one in Hilton Head, SC and another in Aspen CO.
3rd Federal (my mortgage holder) is headquartered in Cleveland, but has significant operations in Florida. PNC is headquartered in Pittsburgh, with locations all over NE Ohio (due to the National City acquisition)...and Florida. Hell, I think Aladdin's has several Florida locations. Handel's does also, I think.
I went to one of the 'new season ticket member' orientations yesterday, and the ticket reps said a couple of things that were maybe worth sharing (sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else, I've been losing track here). Season ticket members won't be getting a 'gift' any time soon. Ownership is trying to put something nice together, and it might not get to us until mid-season. Tickets will indeed be digital for everyone, but a 'member benefits' card will be sent 'some time later in March.' So, it seems that too won't make it to us before the first game. The card can be used for discounts at the store, and on food/beer/special events during certain games. I didn't put 2+2 together at the time, but that all seems to imply to me that STHs might not get anything before the season starts. Also, the "Membership Communities" and their related events seem to also be in flux. I recall seeing a list of their planned events when I was buying my tickets a few weeks ago, but now all of those calendars seem to be gone online. And the ticket reps yesterday said they're still planning events through the year. TL;DR: The ins-and-outs of STH benefits are still being worked out. IMHO, owners don't feel a need to half-ass things just to get ready before March 2.
Informative post. What a rare treat on here. Jk. But I'm 100 percent okay with the delay, as long as they are transparent. Trying to do the best thing in the end for STH its a great reason for a delay.
1. This was something I was hoping for, especially based on what they do for the Browns. We have Browns season tickets and the season ticket member gifts are usually phenomenal. Last year they were Coleman tailgating coolers, one for each ticket. They've done STM Browns hats from 47 brand, both winter hats and ball caps, once again, one for each ticket. 2. This another thing the Browns have. It gets you discount in the team shop and concession stands. It also enters you into contests for away trips and other cool prizes every time you swipe it in the stadium!
Love the sound of this and makes sense that things are delayed in implementation since they are making large scale changes and bringing in wide ranging benefits. They've been on this for a little over 7 weeks. These things aren't flip the switch items. They could just send out a card (which would take some time to manufacture just by themselves) but these things are going to take some time to get put together.
Really? Huh. Who knew? Not that it matters to me. They processed my card and then lost my name. I won't be holding my breath waiting for them to mail me anything.
He has to take a shot at the City but let’s AP and others skate. His ability to not understand how to build a partnership in a healthy way is amazing. He should not say a single bad thing about Columbus forever. When asked why it didn’t work he can give a bland PR answer but to say the City was dismissive as they hand over millions of dollars doesn’t help grow a relationship.
