    Here's the possibilities

    1. USL's season hasn't really started
    2. USL teams already have GK's signed
    3. He doesn't want to play USL (would rather do other work)
    4. USL won't meet his salary demands

USL clubs are fairly loyal to a group of players per team. And usually they have GK's return year after year. Few can afford like Rochester to pay 2 starters (Vallow and Huddock).

There's probably still time to sign USL but his odds of getting a good deal wouldv'e been better if starting earlier. I'm not sure how guaranteed contracts are and whether some teams could drop a GK right now.

I don't know his reasons but it does seem plausible that he won't go to USL for any of the above reasons.

I think Chivas would have been better off picking up Ring and using their #2 pick to take an immediate impact player. Guzan doesn't look like all that. He's slow and he doesn't fit into the beast category like Thornton does. I'm amazed that such a good Goalie is out of a job. He was an ALLSTAR last year!!! This is crazy. Hey Henry I wish you get the job you deserve.

Before ZT decided to head off to Portugal last year, I remember reading that HR planned on retiring from soccer. Then ZT left, and he decided to give it another year since he was in position to be a MLS starter.

So, it seems like he's probably just arrived at the same conclusion he came to 1 1/2 years ago.

He's got other life aspirations more important to him than being a low paid MLS backup. I assume that he's just decided to move on.

If he's really retired, I think it's a shame his one season as a starter was our worst season ever. It's not like he was completely responsible for that. I wish him good luck in the rest of his life. He should come by section 8 sometime.

I think a lot of people are confused by the whole "MLS All-Star" thing. It's not that big of a deal. And it's definately not something that can accurately measure a player's worth to that of the rest of the league.

A couple years ago I voted over 300 times for Daminis goal after deleting the cookies. I believe the all star voting is the same and the same trick to be easily applied.
Yea i admit i didnt have anything better to do

Who thinks Ring would have done better than Thorton against the Revs? I do. You cannot play an injured, over-weight, over the hill goalie! This is one of the main reasons I remain critical of PW. Did you see that goal by Noonan last night? I mean Zacks dive to the corner was pathetic! I accept that we woould have lost to the Revs undr any circumstance but not 3 nil. (The Revs are possibly the first offensive powerhouse in the MLS IMHO). And Zack as a leader? Where was he during the warm-up? I was there at 5pm- no Zack. Guppy was to act fast before it is way too late.

Hmm. I was there at 4 and Zach was on the field warming up with the rest of the team. So WTF are you talking about?

I will take yur word that he was there at 4- a full 2 hours before the game. So, he warmed for an hour? And then what ? Left the field ? For what? Beer vendors? Please compare his pre-game ritual with thos of the Revs, Mexico, and Poland. It may be instructive. Well, unless he knows better.

For every Fire game I've been to in my life, especially the ones that Thornton has started, Thornton has always warmed up early, then gone into the locker room. The backup keeper is thus usually warming up by the time that fans are entering the stadium. Don't ask me why this is done, it's just the way that it is. And, for the most part, it has worked well for Thornton over the past 7 years.

It won't work well, however, when Thornton won't dive, as he stood "Henry Ring style" on Dempsey's goal.

And trying to compare a MLS warm up routine (when you have literally hours of time to warm up) to a 30 minute "quick" warmup that Poland and Mexico did is comparing apples and oranges.

Yes I watched it- I was there. The team had a piss poor game.

Zach does not seem the same player he was before going to Portugal

Did you turn 21 last night and have the "one shot of Malört" that you said you would have and then never drink again?

Careful, that stuff can mess you up and make you delusional about Henry Ring.

Not as bad as Absinthe, resulting in thoughts of Ryan Futagaki and Chris Carrieri, but enough of that.
