As much as I hated him, if he became a G, I'd be cool with it.

Interesting about Torres. There is room for another central defender but we REALLY need a right fullback.

On another topic, Has anyone heard or seen anything about Bj4 during preseason? Worried about his career.

Strange not to see him at all in that preseason game. Hope it's nothing serious. Makes me think back to that article last February in the LA Times came out where the Galaxy said "He’s obviously had a couple [of concussions] so we’re letting the doctors dictate the process." and BJIV's mom/agent quickly tweeted back “BJ is good and concussion-free. Not sure who you’ve been talking to.”

Not to seem heartless but, with who we have on our team now and who we have running it, I don't think BJ can cut it. Despite whatever hindrances his concussion history has on his game, it seems his skill set hasn't improved enough to warrant much time on the field in this MLS 3.0ish era, unfortunately. Still being so young, hopefully he stays with us, even if at GII to see if he can climb off this plateau. I just hope Alvarez keeps improving so he doesn't suffer the same fate.

Roman Torres would be a welcome addition.

I read that Skjelvik is doing well at left back, and Feltscher has looked good at right back. I guess Romney is our back up right back and left back.

Probably a good news (and thanks DTK) but we may need another RB.

I think this is a case where he has attracted interest from abroad and they needed to sign him to keep him as a prospect, but he'll probably get loaned down to the GIIs for most of the year.

I think the reason we are not hearing about a Donovan statue, is because he has come out of retirement for the third time and is now playing for the San Diego Sockers of the Major Arena Soccer League. A statue isn't something you do while a player is still active.

And where is that rule written down? Who says you can't?

It does make sense to wait. What if Donovan goes and plays a few years at LAFC ? Do you still want a Donovan statue?

    Happy to take that risk.

As opposed to building a monument to the operator of a rival team.

Our FO is tone deaf and Klein has no idea what the fans feel or want. The only reason we have a statue of Beckham is that from a corporate viewpoint, they think they can make some money by doing it. There is no grass roots cry for this statue, it's an attempt to capitalize on a good looking celebrity who once played for our team, but now owns another. This is so far from Man United and the 'Holy Trinity', players and coaches who spent their lives with the club and city, it's really laughable. When does Zlatan get his statue?

I'll just close my eyes as I walk past it and go watch some soccer.

Once they decided on statues, which I'm opposed to, I think it's better to get Becks' out of the way asap before Miami actually begins play.

Well, I probably agree. I was just giving LD a hard time. He seems to be playing an awful lot of soccer for a guy who's retired and maybe I was just disappointed that he hadn't come out for my rec league yet.
Truth is all of it smacks as a desperate attempt to cash in on our past rather than selling the team on the field - and it seems like the kind of thing someone who's not focused on making the on the field product better came up with.
If the non-soccer people wanted to do something good this offseason why couldn't they have talked Cosmo into staying?

Season is starting pretty soon and this still hasn't been resolved. Kind of weird.

I'm finding this really amusing now. What if we just start the season with 4DP's. Will the league care? It is Gio after all, and that's sort of like playing with a handicap.

What a load of whiny cry baby shit. What’s the problem? The Galaxy has until March 1 to get this done. It’s February 14th. We have no clue how it’ll be resolved so why assume it ends with the rules breaking? If Gio gets his pay reduced and isn’t a DP, how is that breaking the rules? It’s not like he’s been a DP caliber player anyways.

Slow news week for Paul I guess. Let’s stir up some anti Galaxy stuff to get subscribers to our shitty online website. ******** off.

Perhaps the Galaxy heard the backlash and quickly got Beckham to add to the donation for this new field or rushed the unveiling so it would be part of the "statue unveiling weekend." Alternatively, they may have wanted to put some more Galaxy-branded stuff in the middle of what might be considered LAFC territory to counter-market the perception that the Galaxy is not LA's team. Either way, I'm in favor of more fields for kids who don't have access.

Been looking over the fence at this for awhile now. Very interesting. In looking for precedent i noticed that FC Sion (Switzerland) was found guilty of using illegal players back in 2014.

FIFA threatened to ban all Swiss teams from participating in international competitions (read: lucrative Champions and Europa league games) if the league didnt take action.

The Swiss FA docked the club 3 points for every match they fielded an illegal lineup.

Over there, with relegation, that completely sunk the team.

Over here? No relegation so who cares if you get docked points. Will FIFA or Concacaf step in and try to enforce MLS's stupid local rules to prevent any MLS teams from playing in the Champs League or Campeones Cup? Probably not. Too much money to be lost. Will MLS force the Galaxy to forfeit all games while having an illegal roster? Rather doubt that too. Will this force a new roster rule to allow 4 DPs?

Very interesting stuff. Will we see the MLS grow a pair and drop a hammer of LAG?
