This Spurs rumor sounds hopeful. You've got a squad depleted by injury, Eales with ties to the club, and unlike Newcastle money shouldn't be an issue.

While they probably have more money than the Geordies, Spudz haven't exactly been throwing around cash on players lately. Poch has even been levying veiled complaints about it.

Well hopefully their rash of injuries will loosen up the purse strings. Meanwhile … tick, tock...

They might. But I hope not.

Your allegiance to the Gunners is stronger than your love of the 5 Stripes?

I felt the same vibe when I saw the rumor. Eagles calling in a favor to the old office. Boys, I need to create some urgency with the only team that has offered for my guy. Do me a solid and call your beat writer with a "leak".

What did we sign Almiron for? Was it $7-8M? One would seem to think that if Atlanta can triple their money, with a nice percentage on a future sale, there would be no complaints from anyone except the straight haters

$24M is what? 18M pounds? I can see this getting done to the benefit of all

Yes. I've been an Arsenal supporter for the same amount of time MLS has been in existence. But of course given that they're never in direct competition with each other, the allegiance to one over the other really only manifests in weird circumstances like this one.

Understandable, I have the same issue on the national team level and those teams' paths actually do cross. I will not tell you who I pull for in those instances.

My guess is the same team that led to my affinity for Arsenal. I was in Orlando on July 4, 1994, for a certain World Cup second round match and was left gawking at the skill of a certain Inter Milan striker, who wouldn't play for Inter Milan much longer.

I was in Orlando for the previous match, but had to get back to Atlanta for a 4th of July party with 45,000 of my closest friends. Looking back I wished I'd stayed in Orlando. I can only imagine what a crazy fun scene Holland vs. Ireland must have been.

Only year I've missed P'tree since 1986 was that year. And yeah, the Irish were great sports despite the result. The drinking and the singing at several of those pubs in that Church Street Station area lasted well into the night. And although it sucked watching Tab Ramos get his head bashed in on TV, after that match was over the Brazilians came out of the woodwork to hang out there too.

I'd run every Peachtree since '87 until a few years ago. Knee problems prevented me from doing any training at all, so I gave my number to a friend of my son. I am not to proud to admit I got a pretty good number the next year. As we approach the 50th anniversary I wish I'd have walked that one simply to keep my streak intact. Between UGA, legal friends, soccer, and Peachtrees I think our paths must have crossed many times without even realizing it.

I see the Newcastle skipper Benitez continues to grumble about lack of action on the transfer market. Only 4 days left before the window closes... tick, tock, tick, tock.

From what I understand we've got a few more international players than slots currently. I think a couple of those will go to ATL 2, but I'm not concerned. The lawyers seem to get enough green cards to make us compliant every year.

I hope this is just a depth move and not a precursor to LGP getting sold. That would be a huge loss.

Looks like Miggy is on his way to Newcastle. Guess Rafa won his battle agaisnt ownership.

Glad that ordeal is over. It is interesting that the AJC article announcing this transfer mentions a bunch of teams that supposedly had interest but were never part of the AU fan discussions.

I bet his agent physically leaving the island and going to Italy had a bit to do with the final timing. "Welp, looks like this isn't going to happen. Bye, guys!" "Oh, $#!+, there really might be other teams interested! We'll take him!"

Man, would love it if he starts really well against Spudz. Go on, Miggy!

Well this sucks... Miggy is not available today because his visa paperwork hasn't been processed (can't they expedite these things?). I got up early just to watch his debut.

Yeah, that was disappointing. What would've helped would be Newcastle buying him sooner!
