Ok before I leave I gonna say this about Bento. He needs to ditch all the deadweights (and there are a lot of them) and bring in young and fresh players. If he doesn't do that by 2020, I want him out.
By the looks of it, I reckon Bento lost the locker room 2 days before LSW kicked the water bottle. I guess that makes Stielike and Bento even.
It's hilarious how the folks who criticized Shin Tae-yong all of a sudden want him back(You know who you are). Blame 'x' manager, said manager gets sacked, starts longing for said manager, rinse and repeat.
The truth is too bitter. Our problems are more deep-seated than merely changing managers. At this rate we're pulling a Sunderland.
Our problem is that we have never been and will never be a good possession based side, yet nearly all of our managers try to play a possession based 4-2-3-1. We don't need to have possession all the time to beat Asian teams. In fact, it's fcking us over. Such a shame that Bento regressed the team back to such tactics after a decent start. The team was playing a quick 4-4-2 early on.
He has terrible eye for talent even more so than STY. I worry about all the players he will overlook. I bet he thinks if he had NTH at his disposal he would have gone all the way.
Shin Tae Yong knows to take risks. I have no doubt in my mind he would pick Lee Kang In or Paik Seung Ho soon if he was still coach. Bento will never do that, he's too rigid, too stubborn. He doesn't know how to take risks.
I believe I was one of the few in the beginning who said I would've preferred keeping Shin if Bento was the new coach we were gonna get in the first place.
One thing I want Bento to get it through his thick skull is to rid his delusion that Kim Seung-gyu is the best choice GK. Kim Seung-gyu isn't a first choice keeper, he's a terrible keeper and have been for many moons ago, reason why Cho Hyun-woo was our starting GK at the WC because he's proved to be the better keeper than the garbage two Kims. Also, get rid of Pat and Mat(Jung Woo-young and Nam Tae-hee) already, they're nothing but a waste of space.
so.. you are satisfied with a quarterfinal finish? were you not completely against the idea of shin taeyong continuing the job until the asian cup? make one thing clear literally nobody wants shin taeyong back at helm but lets also not pretend he would not have done a better job in this asian cup. the team struggled against the likes of philipines and kyrgyzstan. bento just attributed the loss to 'qatar took their chance better luck next time haha'. bento deserves every criticism hes going to get for the next several months
Just because I'm not complaining about a QF exit doesn't mean I am satisfied. Didn't expect us to go far nor did I expect Bento to take us far, and he deserves the criticisms for the decisions he's made thus far, but to fire him? absolutely not. Also, when did I even say I wanted Shin Tae-yong back? I'm calling out those who are backtracking their criticisms because they feel the latter is doing no better.
I realize firing Bento already is not practical and too quick, but I don't see Bento bringing us any good results in the next few years. It's going to be just as bad if not worse than the Stielike era. Way less costly to fire him now and get someone not stubborn enough and actually using a playstyle that fits the players than firing him a year before the world cup and leave an extremely tough situation for the coach who ends up replacing him.
If the KFA keeps pulling a Sunderland it will get to the point where no respectable manager worth his salt will want to take the position.
That's reasonable, but is Bento going to last all the way until the world cup? With the way he's doing I don't think we will, and we'll end up hiring a new coach anyways. It's going to be just like 2018 and 2014 if we leave just 1 year for the new coach to settle in before the world cup.
He wont last. He will struggle in the WCQs as he has this month. KfA will hire another domestic manager with 2 qualifier games remaining and hope we miraculously qualify due to uzbekistans ineptitude and get crushed in the WC.
Again, I don't see what the difference is between Bento and Shin. Same tactic, same inflexibility. He already knew that we don't have the experience and depth coming in and yet relies on Lee Yong to bend it like Beckham.
