On the positive side, KMJ and HIB might get a signing after this (well idk about HIB anymore). LKI PSH and WYJ are doing well in Europe (esp. LKI) and KCH is on his road to recovery.
Yeah some teams never win. That is why they either move to a different city or get bought out by a different management.
Yeah Korea need to stick with a manager ffs. I don't think KFA understands what a learning curve is. If you want someone to bring in creativity and a new perspective, you need to give them time.
I think we can work with Bento if he's willing to be more open-minded and get better with selections. From what I've seen, he isn't a bad tactician. He's actually pretty ok in that area. His problem is that his player selections suck. I don't know enough about his resume, but I'm going to guess that he isn't use to teams constantly parking the bus.
Since Asian Cup is not our thing, we shouldn't invest any more time and players to it. Just play with domestic players for better or worse, while the European players are getting reps.
Agreed. I'm actually pleased with what I've been seeing. We're not going to turn into a creative, passing, organized team overnight. Let the seeds germinate. I'm so used to seeing the KNT hoof the ball from their own half but this tournament I actually saw a concerted effort to string together a couple of passes (albeit in our own half). Patience, patience, we'll get there soon enough.
Haha, we all think this and say it on this board but we can't abandon our blood. We all come back. Honestly, not a single one of us complaining here today is going to actually NOT watch the next AC.
Most of these boys have been together for a long time since u-16’s same with the coach. Qatar has a plan to field a competive side by 2022 and I think they will.
For me it's so disappointing that he never thought about playing two forwards. Never considered playing LSW for extended minutes. The team was suffering from a severe lack of creativity and stability on offense all tournament long, but he didn't do any of the two things he could've tried to fix it: 1. Play another striker, and 2. Play your best dribbler. The offense clearly had major issues but he didn't do a thing to fix it. I'd really love to be proven wrong, but there's very little that's promising about what I saw from him this tournament. But what did we all expect? That a manager who's been mediocre throughout his career would suddenly turn it around with us? It's really not that fundamentally different from the Stielike situation. He's just more accomplished and isn't as stupid.
Why shouldn't they? WCQ are 1.5 years away. We've secured military exemption for the next generation. We have time to rebuild.
Fine. Let's agree that these 23 losers deserve to swim across the Persian Gulf and trek all across Asia to get home instead of flying.
Hoofball is the foundation of Korean football and the K-League. It's our way of life. We're like the old English-style. Kick and run. That's how it's taught in the youth level. Can't fix base overnight.
if we had KCH, KSY, HHC, SHJ and NSH, we definitely would've seen a different tournament. but we can't make excuses. gotta look up and move forward.
This is worse than losing to Iraq in 2004. At least we had an excuse because Lee Woon-Jae and crew were with hookers and in the bar. This tournament is just sad.
You have to give some credit to Qatar, who have yet to concede a goal in this tournament and have managed to win all their matches. Doing so against S.Korea without 2 of their best players is a major accomplishment for them. That said, S.Korea wasn't all that good in this tournament and while I didn't necessarily think Qatar would end up winning this game without their suspended players, with them, I would have even bet on Qatar. Overall, they have done better in this tournament than S.Korea.
Yeah but those dudes gave us success in WC 2002. Always gets a pass from me. These guys haven't done sh*t.
