The troll continues boys. After we won this cup last year with penalties in both the semi-final and final, we win again on penalties
It appears that the Benfas are all upset that Benfica and their B team got "robbed" by VAR. We also planned this dragarto final..... The funny part is this is a league cup final. Who the heck would even try to buy this cup? Best of luck in the finals.
LOL Braga's coach Abel saying that they should just get rid of VAR because of that disallowed goal and also for yesterday's disallowed goal for Benfica, and that there shouldn't be any offside lines on TV to 'confuse' people. The replay shows that Acuna was clearly shoved by Dyego Souza in the back just before the goal. Abel today: When he lost 6-2 to his parent club Benfica:
Ahahahaha now Antonio Salvador, Braga president, is making declarations. Funny how every time after Braga faces us, their president always has something to say. Again, after they lost 6-2 everyone was quiet.
For a club that likes to pretend they are on the same level as the big 3, getting this upset over a league cup is embarrassing
Varandas has been incredibly quiet but today he finally came out to the press to respond. Have to say his response was very classy, mentioned that when we lost to Tondela or Guimaraes we didn't go around making excuses, defended the VAR and didn't hesitate to call out certain individuals for being cowards. Also found it reprehensible that the president of another institution said yesterday that a referee should never referee again, and that today this referee took a leave of absence (Fabio Verissimo). Varandas had to respond today to Salvador who went way too far - even insinuated that one of the Sport TV commentators was influencing the public's opinion by saying that the disallowed VAR goal for Braga was correctly disallowed, and that the commentator was sent by SCP
I'm not a fan of VAR. There are still mistakes and it just makes the debate worse. Look at both semi-finals. The only technology I think our game should have is goal line technology. As for the "foul", I think it could have gone either way. I don't think there was enough contact to warrant a foul. It was two players jumping for the ball and the Sporting player overplayed the contact after he realised he had misread the flight of the ball.
That's a bit harsh on Braga. If you listen to Abel, he clearly states how Braga try to compete with the big 3 on the pitch, despite the massive disadvantage off it. We should be happy to have another club challenging the big 3.
He got elbowed in the back, it's a foul. The VAR intercedes when there's a clear sign of a foul, an offisde, etc... And when Braga gets a call in their favour next week, will there be this much barking?
The amount of force in the contact makes me question if it was a foul or not. I believe it could have gone either way but it was given and I accept it. I just don't think it was as clear cut as you are suggesting. My point is that I agree with him that we shouldn't have VAR. I'm sure they won't complain but that doesn't mean Abel's opinion of VAR will change.
How come Braga doesn't make these declarations when they spread their ass cheeks for Benfica every game? Why did Antonio Salvador say that every club should be like Benfica? Why does Verissimo get criticized and leave after the game against Porto and Benfica, yet referees like him rob Sporting constantly but never receive any punishment?
LFV opens his mouth and bamm, referee is done. Anyone else still not convinced that he calls the shots?
Verissimo was in the Benfica payroll for years. Perhaps he had a pay dispute with Benfica and decided to stop helping Benfica? Now he is on the Benfica hit list. I hope he doesn't take an stroll around the Colombo Mall in Lisbon....
LFV admitted to the journalists that he went straight to the Referee's Association and spoke directly with the president, accusing them of being the problem. We don't do this kind of stuff. The fact is there is a direct relation between when the whole email scandal and other investigations started, and when Benfica stopped having calls go their way. Porto is now reaping the benefits and are going to win a second title in a row. The football in Portugal is all about who has the most influence behind the scenes, everyone has known this for the last 30 years.
Because if the shoe was on the other foot, we would not here the same complaints from Sporting fans. Loosing sucks. Loosing by VAR (even if just) is worse. Funny how Braga now is Benfica B. Ask Braga fans how they feel about Benfica and its not too friendly. lol.
Doesn't matter what Braga fans think. All the matters is the reality and if you look at reality, you can clearly see that LFV and Salvador are BFF. When Braga looses to Benfica, it's one big happy family. Anyone else and it's an all out war. C'mon, give me a break.
Lol Must be nice getting the benefit of the doubt, being cleared of all corruption charges, to have so much corrupt influence in Portugal that you can literally get a referee suspended and fired.
Pretty sure most Sporting fans wouldn't be overly concerned about an irrelevant cup. heavy1981 nailed it - doesn't matter what the fans think. Any non-benfica fan hates benfica. How could they not hate a club that doesn't even hide the fact that it cheats? The real point is - ask Salvador how he feels about LFV. I bet its pretty damn friendly. I normally hate this conspiracy shit, but Braga being benfica B is just too blatant at this point. It's borderline ridiculous. They lost 6-1 to benfica and are literally smiling after. Has there ever been a Braga v Sporting game where Braga hasn't complained?
I dont believe I mentioned anything about Benfica being guilty or not of anything. I think I have been pretty clear how I feel about the top team Presidents in our league.
Was not too many years ago that Sporting were selling their players to Porto. All Im saying is that loosing to a VAR call sucks and if Sporting had lost to a VAR call, no matter what team they were facing, you would not like it. Coming out and saying our league is corrupt, well ya of course it is but that was not the point I was making. I would not loose one nights sleep if all the top presidents of our league went to jail.
