Yeah our history is nothing to be proud of but what can change now? USA and aus are our bastard children
Hey guys, I love to talk history as much.....actually way more....as the average guy (ask my 4th grade son who face-palms when the 30 second question he has about the Louisiana Purchase results in my 20 minute monologue), but lets keep try to keep this at least somewhat footy related. Thanks.
Or on a very sad and serious note. The Argentinian Emeliano Sala who had just been bought by Cardiff, only to apparently perish in a plane crash in the English Channel, on his way to start training with his new club. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-46966424
Top man that Rick B. Seeing the 2005 FA Cup Arsenal got to keep is one of my favorite memories, thanks to Rick.
The problem is there are a few areas that haven't progressed. At all. Parts of Queensland even surprised me when I first went there from Melbourne and I couldn't believe the racist and sexist comments people were making. As for our immigration camps, national embarrassment. Sadly our politicians keep them open. Look at what they did to prevent the press going there and reporting on it. Should be jailed. Besides struggling to apologise, our Pollies efforts towards homosexuals is equally disgusting. But then again, we aren't the only country with people who have a hateful mentality.
I have a similar story about revisiting my old Highbury in 2006, a few months before they tore it down. It was for DB10 day against WBA, but then he threw in the UCL Semi against Villareal. Eternally thankful to Rick for this.
Titi laughing all the way to the bank: It will cost AS Monaco between €10m & €15m to formally sack Thierry Henry, according to Nice-Matin.— Get French Football News (@GFFN) January 24, 2019
Henry for Arsenal would have been an epic disaster and (everyone - 1) knew it over the summer too. If we were going to hire a first time manager, it should have been the guy with the perfect hair.
Obviously, I'm speculating but I'd guess that the money is only a minor salve for Henry. He's so hyper-competitive he wants to win no matter what. I know he inherited a bit of a shit show but I bet he's smarting from this. And no, in no way did I want Henry managing us as a first real gig.
Maybe, but Monaco got a lot worse in attack after he took over, and didn't get any better defensively.
This. There's absolutely no way TH14 is gloating in getting a big golden parachute. He's clearly trying to get a successful coaching career going and this sacking will be a setback (I haven't read about it yet, just taking the above info for granted). But in no way a surprise. It was a situation poised for failure, just as it would've been if Josh had succumbed by nostalgia to choose him instead of Emery. Phew. p.s. I have serious doubts about whether Thierry is cut out to be a head coach/manager. His temperament doesn't seem ideal for man management.
Agreed. Not everybody is capable of doing any or every job. Some are simply not hardwired to be a doctor or CEO or a football manager. Henry excelled as a player but does not strike me as the strategist and coach to manage. Maybe he'd make a decent assistant but he'd certainly need more experience on that side of the whistle before warranting another managerial offer, I'd imagine.
