If he has his sight on Europe he should go to J league instead of K league 1. They do scout Japan more.

I'd rather see him go to whitecap than jleague tbh. It's all the same. His performance in the AC will matter more for scouts.

You don't like the J league?
They won the last two champions leagues ;)

So what? K-League won the most champions, doesn't mean its a guaranteed transfer to Europe and you have guys like JWY, JHS and KSG which makes it worse for us on a national level since they got there not of merit.

KHM alone could've been a life saver for us in that game against bahrain. LY was punting 1000 crosses and got one near KJS's head in Over Time.

Oh but I thought you said champions league was the best indicator of deciding which leagues are better. Or maybe it was someone else.
Still I'm very concerned about the current trend, K? ;)

I never said that. As long as K-League remains a feeder to both jleague and csl, on the national level Korea will be screwed in the long run (KMJ). Which is why KFA should impose a policy regarding those two leagues, sent our boys to only Europe. And the rest is fruits of labor for NT. :)

Ah my bad, but I remembered there was this one guy who used to say this exact same thing. He got red carded though
But maybe he was right, as a Concerned Korean, I don't like us being a feeder league ;)

Or we some how get lots of good fans to support our leagues so players won't be inclined to move to other asian leagues. This is the only legitimate solution. And I would still throw a ban to the csl. Or have a policy which inflates the transfer fee to china

The fact that he still hasnt "made up his mind" between china/EPL is telling.

need to prevent national team players from recruiting each other to their leagues. for friendlies place a limit to one national team player call up per league in the afc. lets see if anyones got nice stories to share about china or middleast with their teammates then

    I got a genuine question:
For people that complain about K-league's low attendance, how often do you watch the K-league?
I'm going to be really honest with you guys but I barely watched any games last season, I tried but the quality of the football was so bad I wanted to tore my eyes out. You know people don't owe shit to the K-league, and the league has done jack shit to improve themselves. Why should any support it when they can't even support themselves. All the citizens team are run through public fundings, the people are supporting them far enough. Instead of blaming people for not giving a shit, tell the K-league and the KFA to get their act together.

I myself tried to watch more K-league matches but I have an early bed time and I work/study 7 days a week. But I still love my league and KNT so I would atleast watch some h/ls and scores. Your league basically correlates to the KNT. And I think its hypocritical to say you support the KNT but not the league. If I lived in Korea I would image that I would buy season tickets.

i'm a super concerned korean in regards to the state of the kleague. i dont blame these korean players moving to china or japan for better paycheck or playing for a more meaningful league.

I also tried to watch more K League matches but doesn't work out too well living in Chicago. But I think if I lived in Korea I would definitely have season tickets for FC Seoul considering they're not even expensive.. When I did visit though I loved going to the matches, went to 3 of them in 2 weeks (Incheon-Jeonnam, Jeonbuk-Gyeongnam, Seoul-Busan)

State of football due to bad management, scope, and leadership. The clubs and the league have gotten so complacent that I just can't give a shit about them anymore. Why should I care when they don't care themselves?

Sunday league in England gets more attendance than the Kleague. There's a strong lack of footballing culture. it's only FC Korea or top flight europe that gets any attention.

this is true. koreans are so bad when it comes to sports management. Again, i prefer the likes of Kim Min Jae to go to Europe instead of China, but I don't blame him for wanting to leave Korea and play in China for $$$. K-League in both quality and attendance have declined in recent years. I'm very concerned.

hey let me ask you. do you think K-League should start naturalizing foreign players and put them in our national team?

And yet they are doing nothing about it which just piss me off even more. If I was an investor, I want to see what they can do with the little funding they have right now, I would not be convinced at all. They don't even know how to grow that money. They don't know how to attract fans at all. They play some football style of football that some dongnae ajjushi came up with (you know the type of football that ajjushis like). Playing some backward football that resembles the 80s. I want to like this league but I just can't.

As a fellow Chicagoan, curious to know your thoughts on BSK’s argument of K League vs MLS, assuming you watch some MLS. Although the Fire are probably not the best reflection of MLS level of play the last few years.

At the end of the day we all want our best K talent finding their way to Europe; but since the top four leagues view K League and MLS well below their respective own, not sure BSK arguing over which is better between the two is moot. My two cents but full disclosure I am not able to spend anytime keeping up with K League.

I’m not sure if I have commented about this on BSK before but I know I have told friends that I feel like this is what Korea needs to do. Many other countries do it (some with just soccer and NT success in mind only).

My two cents is that at the very least, if the player has any Korean blood in him (50%, 25%, etc.) and wants to play for his motherland, I’m all for it. Same with foreign players but I feel like the partial blood would be the easier pill to swallow for the old fashioned Korean public.

I’m not sure how the military requirement for male Koreans would apply to foreigners open to being naturalized for NT duty purposes, but if in play I would imagine it would deter players from wanting become Korean.

There was that one Korean kid who ended up playing for Japan because he wasn’t accepted by Korean teammates, I think there was recently a half Korean half Nigerian kid that chose to play for Nigeria (not sure of full details behind decision), and I think of all the Korean kids across the world in a country other than Korea, that could only increase the pool from which to draw NT players from. The larger the pool the better chances of finding talent.

I haven't paid too much attention to MLS in past years but probably gonna start following a little more this season. But yeah Chicago Fire haven't been the greatest in the past few years. I personally would rather have KNT players stay in K League rather than come here since K League needs to do well for the sake of football in Korea. Selfishly would love to see some Koreans play in MLS one day other than Kim Kee Hee to watch them in person, but still prefer KNT players staying in Korea. I personally see MLS more of a "retirement" league as well, and I feel like it will stay that way until there is some sort of promotion/relegation but we all know that isn't gonna happen in the US. But that's just my point of view. In the case of HIB, I definitely prefer he go to Europe or stay in K League at this point in his career.

Recruiting diaspora players is only effective if there are players out there who are good enough to contribute to the national team. If a talented ethnic Korean player turns up in the US, Japan, China, Central Asia, etc., go ahead and call the kid up - but it's not really a cornerstone strategy if the best ones are only good enough to be role players in J1/MLS/CSL. Sure, Chunson Lee scored an AC-winning golazo and Chong Tese had a nice spell in BL2, but do they really move the needle? Luis Robles at GK, anyone?

Along the same lines, a non-ethnic Korean foreign player who has played for long enough in Korea (5 years) to become FIFA eligible is likely either not particularly amazing, or past his peak.
