Is that really a thing with a professional? I admit, I've moved so many times for a job that I don't consider that as a, well, consideration. But I've swapped continents 7 times, so maybe that's just me.
Right now he's 33, right, so 34 next season. Given recent trends and that he keeps fit and isn't injury prone, he should be able to earn a paycheck for two to three more years. His salary was $600k last year. His production, his nous, his work rate add up to a player who is still worth about that. I could see him finding a contract over here in that range as a spot player. Mexico is also a good market for him
His numbers are down from peak Benny, but peak Benny was 2015, and his numbers throughout his career have paled by comparison. But he did put in 2800 minutes last season, and playing a really odd role for him, he was solid.
Look at Benny's Audi numbers for LAFC and they indicate that he didn't finish the season on a high, so maybe a sign of age. But there was a long term dip as Nguyen arrived and was worked into the lineup, which changed Benny's role.
I don't see him retiring just yet.

Exactly. LAFC were so unbalanced in the midfield and something had to give. I think they need both a real No. 8 and No. 6. Management must think that Lee Nguyen is a better No. 10 backup than BF and that LN has more versatility. I can't argue with that. Vella is the No. 10 and no one is taking that spot.

For Benny, he'll either get picked up by a team that is desperate for a No.10 (there are many) or he'll take a pay cut and almost anyone would take him as a reserve midfielder. He's better (and cheaper) than Croizet as the backup No.10 and our backups at the No. 8 and No.6 don't shave on a regular basis. I would take him back in a heartbeat for the right price.

God, those were bad, but the Ramses Sandoval and Paul Caligiuri English calls still give me nightmares.

The lead on that piece talks about his SKC season, a highlight in Indian football. When US fans start lamenting the tragic failure of the 2018 WC Q effort, they should step back and consider places such as China and even more so India. 1.3 billion people and even five years later, they talk about that period as a highlight. BTW, still playing, still scoring at about the pace he always has in the Indian Super League (goal every 2 games).

Funny enough, another former KC player played at Paderborn, and he too i was surprised reached that level, Matt Taylor.

It's a really weird place for him to land. I've seen them play quite often because my in laws had a TV package that only featured the third division and they were just promoted. It's a small club in in a smallish town (150,000). It's a tiny stadium, listed at 15,000 so the capacity is okay, but there are 5000 seats, the rest are stands which means nothing like the vast amounts of room you get standing at CMP, shoulder to shoulder, front to back, three/four deep on each step. It's a tiny place.
The team is mostly classic german second, young and talented, older and brutal. They play a classic 4-4-2. Overall, the talent level at SKC is much higher.
They've had some injuries and are looking to bolster for the second half, trying to jump up into the promotion places. Their two starting strikers have both scored on an almost regular basis, the first option off the bench also has 4. And they signed Shelton and a kid from UCLA. Kamara, who is basically a physical carbon copy.
Being able to bang a bit is important in the second.
I really wish him well. I hope he's set up to play the way they play.

People will do a lot of things for half a million dollars. Colorado's squad is setting up to be pretty interesting. I could see them running a 4-4-2 with Kei and Rubio starting and Acosta and Benny taking a couple spots in the midfield ... they're not going to suck nearly as bad. Neither is San Jose based off the few moves and coaching change they have made. West is going to be a Beast this year IMO.

True. I think Houston is gonna slip further off the pace as they're losing Elis. I would be surprised to see them hit that level of paydirt again. Dallas seems weaker too. Minnesota is actually paying attention to their midfield this time around, so they might be improving...

Way too early to guess, but I'd think Houston and Vancouver are missing the playoffs. Plausibly still San Jose and Minnesota. Final slot might be Portland or RSL? Really no way to guess. I'm probably wrong on at least two of those. I expect we don't finish any higher than third.

And with LAG getting their front office and GBS as head coach, their considerable talent might have some plan to follow this season.
    Good for Benny.
Denver is a great place to live these days if you're on $500k or so.

I think that's all of them, yeah.

Not hearing much interest from Philly fans on this one. His stock has gone way down every year, unfortunately. Keep hoping to see him have a resurgence.

Me too. At Philly, though, i'd think he will be the calming, veteran presence to mentor the very young and talented starters. Who would have seen that role in his future?

Chance Myers to Nashville FC as their chief scout. Excellent. I always liked Chance and remember him coming on to the team as their first round draft pick. Glad to see former players doing well and continuing their careers building the sport.
