Not much to say after this 1T against Bahia. Santos begin the match (And the entire 1 half) in a 4 - 4 - 2 with Gabriel and Rodrygo as the two forwards, so Rodrygo really not participate much at the game, he stayed much stuck in the area, what a waste of time for him and the team. And Santos play very bad also (So much that in the midle of 1 half, the coach told everyone in the bench to exercite), Bahia finish the half as a better team. I think in the 2T, Rodryo will change to the sides, at where he plays better.
Santos team played well in 2 half and got the W. (2-0) Rodrygo not played bad, but not played really well also (Performance note 5.5 - 6.0), in this 4 - 4 - 2 he stayed in the area the whole game and rarely quit (I think it a waste of talent), he still need adapt at this new possible role in Santos team with the new reinforcements of Derlis González and Brian Ruíz. I'm curious to see the future of this team
If anyone cares Rodrygo and Santos are playing Independiente the Libertadoes Quarterfinals second leg. Meaningless matche because Santos got screwed by corrupt CONEMBOL who seem to love favoring Argentinians. Anyways, Rodrygo is struggling like he did against Bahia. He isn't getting much of the ball and he isn't getting much help up front either. Pretty bad match to watch.
Santos fans throwing flairs. Unfair to be knocked out like this. They had an opportunity to score one but stupid final passes. Rodrygo was following the guy on the baseline and instead of passing to him wide open he passes into traffic. I really wanted them to win this. Meh. EDIT: Now they are getting violent and attempting to invade the pitch. They need to save their energy and invade CONEMBOL offices. Those corrupt shits are the real enemy. When was the last time one of their presidents hasn't been caught in so form of corruption or theft??
Thats the Neymar move. I think this kid is sometimes even too mature in his play. That is to say, he makes the right decision which is most of the time a simple pass to advance the play. In general, this amounts to winning football. But when the rest of your team sucks, its better to try to do it on your own more often than not. I would like to see Rodrygo be more daring, take on players more even if it means losing the ball more often. In the last few matches I have seen him, he's been a bit too too conservative for my taste.
Santos playing Sao Paulo right now. Rodrygo has been back on the left wing for a few games now, hopefully helps him get back into things a bit.
He is playing a good derby, better Santos player in 1 half, but, the game in overall is bad at this moment in 2 half...Intensity of both parties fell a lot.
Daam...He missed a HUGE chance at this moment...Only he and the goalkeeper...And nothing more... Focus Rodrygo...
People who know have said from the start that Rodrygo will probably end up being even better than Vinicius. Now we have seen Vinicius against proper European foes and all of us are impressed. Imagine what Rodrygo will show us. Having said that if they both turn out great we will have to find a way to play them at the same time. I wonder how that will work.
Good thing is Rodrygo can play anywhere in the front line, including as a 9 so yea we could see them play together like they have with Brazil's U20.

He can't play as a 9. He can play left, central and right behind a forward and he has tremendous potential. However he needs to grow and become more.. specifically hos creativity and final decision making.
I stand corrected then, could have sworn i saw play as the point man against Chile. I dont find much wrong with his decision making however , in fact its his footballing IQ that impresses me most about his game and its only going to get better as he ages.
His decision making is great outside the final third or at least before he starts one of his full steam runs ahead. Once he starts running with that ball.... that's where he needs to grow most.
If we are counting on Vinicius, Rodrygo and even Asensio to be world class players in the future it seems that the missing link in attack is a good #9.
