I also said Donald Trump would never be elected, and that SRFC would be in MLS by now. But at least I'm always right about which MLS teams are toast.
You don't have to convince me. I'd be totally fine with higher taxes across the board ... not just billionaires. But good luck getting that past 50%+ of the electorate.
Raising taxes on the wealthy is about as popular as anything can be in this climate. https://fivethirtyeight.com/feature...-raise-taxes-on-the-rich-and-americans-agree/
I can see a political future for raising taxes on the 1%. Unfortunately I'm not sure that pays for a massive undertaking like med4all. Raising taxes on the 1% basically gets us back to Obama's budget, before the GOP tax bill. In other words still in a budget deficit. I'd like to see the budget get under a more solid footing before I worry about how to spend more money. My dream would be something close to what Obama and Boehner were negotiating ... a tax increase + spending cut package. I'd also prefer to do it at a time when the global economy is growing, and right now the outlook is pretty poor. The last thing you want to do is make big experiments during a recession.

So there's still time for Sanders, Booker, Biden, and Beto to enter the fray, but this is an interesting point. As of right now the easy frontrunners are all women. It'll be intriguing to see how that develops.
We'll see. It's great to see the new fresh faces and voices. More than likely a couple of the mentioned males choose to run, but I was intrigued by Harris' announcement. Her and Warren sound interesting to me, sort of a new take on the party in ways that previous nominees were not.
Harris candidacy in trouble already Bill O'Reilly says he will not vote for her. Full steam ahead on 2020 – Kamala Harris announced she will run today. She denied Brett Kavanaugh due process in front of the nation, and in so doing has lost my vote. I could not imagine any American for somebody who does not believe in due process. pic.twitter.com/9NzPikOzM7— Bill O'Reilly (@BillOReilly) January 21, 2019
"She denied Brett Kavanaugh due process in front of the nation, and in so doing has lost my vote" forget that last part: her denial of due process to Brett Kavanaugh was an epic failure. Or it didn't really happen. You make the call.
Elizabeth Warren has proposed a wealth tax. Pretty extreme. I don’t know how you stop capital flight.
I don't even care. Trump is bad enough that I'd vote for a 1 legged monkey if it ended up on Dem ticket. Personally the past two years has reinforced my distaste of the executive branch. I'd rather see a weaker figurehead president. Progressivism should start from the ground up. Blue states should become early adopters of innovative progressive policies. If those policies are truly superior, eventually they'll spread to purple states and beyond.
