Today's 1-0 defeat shows why this team and administration can be so damn frustrating at times. The lack of desire from the team along with the lack of urgency regarding reinforcements from this administration makes one want to put their fist through a wall. Should never let three points escape when you're playing on your home soil.

The subs (Lux; Moreira, Rojas, Sibille, Gallardo; Ponzio, Zuculini; De la Cruz, Ferreira; Girotti, Beltran) just lost 4-2 to Almagro, if anyone needed another confirmation of how we're desperately lacking rotational alternatives

The frustrating thing, as El Muneco stated, is the lack of urgency NOW to bring in reinforcements. Winning these games in hand is crucial for us making it into the top 4 to make the Libertadores in 2020, and we are going at this stretch of matches with only 2 healthy forwards.

I still think we can beat Union with our limited roster, but we've already lost 3 crucial points against Defensa when we were relying on a pibe Beltran and De La Cruz who has been nothing short of a complete disappointment and waste of money since he arrived.

I think Suarez can be a very useful signing, but when will he be able to play? The signing needed to be made before the competitive matches started

The penalty was clearly outside the area, but what was the pibe Sibile doing with an absurd stomp on the Union plays calf when there was no danger? Don't even give the ref the chance to call that.

Pratto on the other hand has returned to his old self. Thank god he scored those amazing goals against Boca, but damn the guy completely flubbed that shot. Pathetic effort.

It was an absolutely rubbish first half. I also really don't like Montiel. I know he had the nice pull back for Pratto, but the kid is useless an attacking fullback. 1 decent play in 10 is not good enough at a club like river

Watching this team in the superliga is a waste of time. The only goal we scored in 180 minutes was mainly thanks to the muerto Bottinelli who did more for the club tonight than two years playing for us.

I feel a bit for Quintero. He wasn't very good tonight, but he was literally the only one trying and with any sense of urgency (other than the pibe Ferreira, who was a bit off, but atleast was urgent when the seconds were ticking away). The goal would never have come without his desire to at least TRY to make something happen.

What can we say about De La Cruz? He can't even win a throw in for River, can't hit a cross to save his life, and to think this kid was called the great future of south american football.

Pinola was complete crap. His age is catching up to him. He will be 36 next month, he is almost 3 years older than Maidana. I still think he can be an important player, but maybe not playing back to back games so quickly.

Pratto and Borre were both crap.

Like @ElMuneco said last match, the worst thing was the lack of urgency. We couldn't even make their goalie work. Couldn't get dangerous balls into the box, let alone get a shot on target.

Very disappointed that this team repeatedly lays eggs in the domestic competition. This River reminds me of Real Madrid of Zidane, who was always up for the big CL matches, but seemed to never be focused on La Liga, though they did at least manage to win it once, whereas River hasn't won the title with Gallardo and various times we weren't even in the Libertadores places and only qualified thanks to Copa Argentina or winning Libertadores

    DT: Marcelo Gallardo

Give the squad one last shot int he Superliga. A bunch of interesting pibes and the grandfathers Lux and Ponzio.

It will be good to see Moreira back.

I like what I see from Beltran and Ferreira. I am intrigued by "Sicario" Rojas

I am not excited to see De la Cruz. Hopefully he shuts me up with a 40 yard screamer into the top corner, but i doubt it

I meant to post the other night, but didn't have time.

I just wanted to say this team is a disgrace in the local championship. I understand that we beat Boca- and we keep celebrating it- and that some important players left, but to lose three in a row to Defensa, Union, and Patronato- especially allowing 3 goals to Patronato- is a complete disgrace.

Since Gallardo got to the club, other than the first tournament, we've been awful in the local championship, and even in that one, he threw the championship away and gave it to an undeserving racing side.

I know Gallardo is a legend and he's given us so much joy, and I wouldn't trade the international cups, especially the last one, for anything, but that doesn't mean we can't be furious as we are wasting our time and money watching these team play in the local league for four years now.

The Libertadores is the ultimate goal, but it doesn't start until March 6! We have six more weeks of playing for nothing in this league, maybe trying to get a Sudamericana place, but we need to start winning now for that to happen.

The only good thing to come the other night is something I've been saying for a while now- Ferreira is a crack. I can't remember a pibe whose first goals for the club

Don't forget this absolute golazo he scored at the end of 2018

I would without a doubt give this kid preference over De La Cruz

Exactly loco, that why i said first goals, i probably should have said first two goals, but i typed that rather fast.

Both goals were stunning, unfortunately the second one was in a lost cause match when the other 10 morons on the pitch let him down

Nice pass from Palacios for that Pratto goal.. first thing the kid has done well ever since being linked to Real Madrid

Edit: Now another fantastic through ball by Exequiel to leave Borre one-on-one (even though the play was later incorrectly invalidated). This is the Palacios we all want to see.

Refreshing to see them play so well after such a long time. Ironic that it's the game Quintero is unavailable due to injury...

Suarez wasting no time in making an introduction for himself.

Already looking like a great signing. The guy with knee problems was twisting all over the place as if he was an elastic figurine.

Besides the golazo, a generally very positive first performance. He was very active and dangerous the entire time he was on the pitch. De La Cruz should take note...

All I have to say regarding today's 2-1 victory against Velez in Liniers is that, just like in the sport of ice hockey, it helps to have a world class goalkeeper/goaltender that can help win you some games. #Armani

I really liked last night’s version of Pratto — fast, strong, nonstop defensive pressuring, active offensively. Coincidentally he looked his oldself the day he returned to Liniers.

Just recently this team was looking very plain offensively.. now we are seeing impeccable technique through Borre and Palacios, and then the creative cracks Quintero and Suarez come in to finish the job in the second half when the opposition can hardly breathe. All this without even considering Scocco, who can still add plenty to the team once healthy.

River certainly has off days (Al Ain, Patronato), but when these guys are on their A-game very few teams in the world can compete. There is a combination of technical skill, nonstop pressuring, hunger, and team chemistry embodied in this team that most others can only dream about. Multiple aspects can influence performance and the overall outcome of the match, but I firmly believe that on a good day this team can take on anyone.

After the last two matches, I am extremely pumped to watch the Clasico Sunday against Racing.

It appears that Pratto really was just going through an adaption- and i think he was a bit overweight, which added to his, lets be honest, pathetic form- and theres no doubt his goals against boca have brought him confidence.

What can be said about Armani? and Quintero? and Borre? Even De La Cruz has looked like a footballer the last two matches.

We are now just 6 points off the Libertadores spots for next year, which is obviously within reach, especially when you consider Atletico Tucuman seems to be in shock and in free fall after the loss of their idol Pulga Rodriguez to Colon, which came out of no where.

However, we will only be kicking ourselves for those three pathetic performances if we keep up this good form. If we had gained maximum points from our games in hand, we'd have a chance to REALLY put the pressure on Racing this weekend. Oh well, we need to just continue to win and make it into the copa.

    Possible formation:

Q golazo de Juanfer por dios.

Also borre is playing like he's hungover. Timing is off, control is off, and he's just a bit slow on everything. Could be up 3 or 4-0 by now if he were on

Just goes to show you how we've given away the season... Racing has been at the top of the table since what... August? Yet in the Libertadores we beat them 3-0, and now we're having no trouble handling their "unstoppable team" (hell, we might even repeat another 3-0)

Such a shame we always give the league away

There is no question that River is the best team in Argentine football, like you say its just a shame Gallardo throws the league away every season.

Today was one of the most lopsided 2-0 games I've ever seen. I can't even remember racing threatening Armani's goal. What a humiliation for Coudet's team. Even if they go on to win the league, this match won't be forgotten. They were completely embarrassed and they were having the "ole" chants for practically the whole second half.

Then if we needed anything else to get happy about Casco nutmegged the POS villero Centurion, who was afraid to play from the start, and today he showed he is a shit player and even worse person.

Amazing win, yet like I said the other day and loco said above, River is easily the best team and should be winning the league by a good 10 points, but instead we will need to fight to the end just to make it to the Libertadores spots

Also, I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but even with all the points we gave away in the first half of the season while playing the Copa we still had a chance to make up for the difference at the beginning of the year. Had we won the 3 postponed games we played in January (Defensa, Union, and Patronato), we'd be a potential 2 points away from being first.

It is what it is, but it's just so frustrating knowing how accessible many of the lost points had been.
