Been watching games around when Messi broke Gerd Müllers scoring record for calendar year (91 vs 85), when he scored 6 braces in a row, or when Alba still had hair, Adriano was damn fast with the ball and scored his best goal, and everyone knew how to move.

I heard that Pele actually scored 2500 goals if includes the goals he scored back in his childhood.

Muller was predominantly a goal hanging , goal poacher. He can't have scored too many outside the 6 yard box .

I had no time for him .

Just a personal opinion- it's a forum and we are ALL allowed an opinion despite what the chuckle brothers would have us believe

In that case I probably have more goals than Pele. I did some digging to find somewhat accurate career top scorers in official games that still are ahead of Messi.

    777 Bican
    757 Pele
    734 Romario
    721 Müller
    706 Puskas
    671 Fakenaldo

Interestingly I have previously calculated his average scoring distance when first touching the ball in World Cup matches, and it was 6,6 yards if I remember it correctly.

Oh my lord .. Celito Carlito will be after me for being 0.6 of a yard out !!

That is gross disinformation on my part and for that I must apologise !

:ROFLMAO: geologists have discovered a scientific explanation for Messi's struggles with penalties:

most of Messi's missed PKs happened on the north end of the Camp Nou (10-1), and the soil underneath the pitch on the north end is “based on slate, limestone and other hard rocks from the Palaeozoic age, covered by quaternary sediments, while at the South Goal end the substrate consists of more recent bluish clays" ... "Messi's nightmare is the deep Paleozoic substrate," joked the geologist. "Messi feels better playing on clay grounds."

While it might be suprising for some, but I think CR has missed more penalty than Messi in Champions league. Back in 2008 , CR actually missed penalty in the league in second half of the season when MU , followed by missing a penalty against Barca in semifinal and then missed again in final against Chelsea.

This happened at the same season, nobody bats an eye because MU still ended up winning the thropies.

Yeah, they are pretty much equal on penos, Fakenaldo has slightly better conversion ratio but more big level misses.

1 goal away from 400 La liga goals. Hopefully he can wrap this season with his 10th league title.

Some of that is explained with less games and less travel with no Argentina games, but still looks good.

Messi could have had like 2 goals and 4 assists last night... Barca looked great on attack. I honestly think Suarez off the bench is something we can try against some opponents. Coutinho + Dembele together pose some serious threat from the wings.

That hesitation move from Alba to get the pass was also pretty brilliant.
