Saw the first two episodes. Liked it. Looks like we are going from "Road House" to "Assault on Precinct 13"? Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler That poor bouncer took out like four guys!
I'm four episodes in and so far I think the Billy Russo plot line is by far the least interesting thing about this second season. I thought they should have gone full Jack Reacher with the Amy subplot.
Eight episodes in and I'm not sure how I feel about this season. It's almost more the story of Billy Russo than Frank Castle. I think this season works best when it's Frank and Amy's surrogate father-daughter relationship (Jon Bernthal and Giorgia Whigham have good chemistry) yet there seems to be less of that as the season progresses. Perhaps a villain other than Billy Russo would have been better. I don't think the religious killer dude is all that interesting as an antagonist.
Finished the series. Thought it was ultimately a bit of a letdown. With many different influences (Road House, Assault on Precinct 13, A History of Violence, some hints of the Last of Us in the Frank-Amy relationship) the complete story was not really coherent. There were some flourishes of quality, especially in the first three episodes. But ultimately it felt a bit like a letdown and the Billy Russo story-line like a rehash of season one, not counting the shrink girlfriend. They sort of did this too in Daredevil season three, reusing the Kingpin as the main villain but Vincent D'Onofrio's bad guy is a lot more interesting than the one Ben Barnes plays.
I'm only 20 minutes in - still in the "Road House" portion - and it feels like this bartender chick that Frank went home with is going to end up in a body bag.
