The Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20 de 2019 will be played from January 17 to February 10. It will be held at Chile, more precisely at Rancagua, Talca and Curicó, all in the center of the country.

As in previous editions, in the first phase the 10 teams will be split in two groups, where the top 3 teams will advance to the second phase. As a result, these teams will play 9 matches in under 4 weeks, with several encore matches.

Group A: Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela.
Group B: Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, Paraguay, Perù.

The top 3 teams will qualify to the 2019 Pan American Games, and the top 4 teams will qualify to the 2019 Under-20 World Cup.

Looks like we got the tougher group. Nobody impressed me in the first round.

Chile - I saw Chileans talking about this being their "best generation" since 2013, and I don't agree. Even more after seeing this game. Besides Villanueva and Alarcon, they really did not impress me at all, and I see them going out in first round again.

Venezuela - They did not impress me as a unit, but I do think they have a lot of talent. Makoun is a beast, as is Hurtado. They were massive in the game and just bullied opposing players. I can't see them replicating what they did in 2017 though as their midfield is terrible. However, that forward line with Sosa, Hurtado and Palmezano as well as the backline, are really good.

Bolivia - They did impress me, but only for what was expected from them. This might be the first time I've ever seen a Bolivian team try to play football outside of La Paz. Ramiro Vaca looked real good, as did the goalkeeper. This is probably the best Bolivian youth team in a long time, however compared to the other teams they are still a bit weak. They did pleasantly surprise me but I still don't think they'll do well here.

Colombia - I see talent, but I don't see a unit. I like Angulo and Tolosa, as well as the CB Carlos Cuesta but it seems the exact same as the 2017 team. Just don't perform like a team. Them progressing will be decided in their game against Chile I think.

Crap teams in group one. They can only improve though.

I don't have much hope for our team (Argentina) to be honest. We lost possibly our two best players with injury in the last 2 weeks (Barco and Almendra) and we got an awful schedule with resting day on first matchday so we get to play every 2 days.

I predict we make it to the WC but barely.

This is our best generation since 2013. It could even be better then that. We didn't play well earlier but we got the 3 points nevertheless, and that is important. Grinding out against the likes of Uruguay is a testament to a good side.

For me, the best team so far has been Ecuador.

May be the best since 2013, yeah...

But too soon to say that it's better than 2013's generation...

Excellent match for Venezuela. It could have been a scandalous win, but Chile's GoalKeeper was masterful. Little by little Venezuela is reaching the level we expect from them...

    Hurtado is in another lvl...

Chile gives Venezuela a hand, reinforcing, as always, the strong and historic ties of brotherhood that unite us since we were born as nations...

Chile 1 - 0 Brazil in a spectacular game, Venezuela beats Bolivia again with 10 and suffering.

We lose Hurtado for the first two games of the Hexagonal but we secure the first place.

This one will be playing in the U-20 WC if we qualify.[IMG]

Yikes, I thought this thread was about games at the Sudamericano Sub-20. Too bad seeing it hijacked for political stuff totally unrelated to a Conmebol tournament.

Let us hope that Peru makes some magic happen today vs Ecuador. After all, Panamerican Games spots are at stake, and Peru already holds one automatic berth.

It is related to the tournament... It happened in Rancagua, inside the complex of El Teniente de Rancagua, the Venezuelan squad is protagonist of it... So...

    And then, there were 6.

Ecuador u20 comes in hot with the most goals scored in this tournament: 8 goals in favor (1 penalty).

Colombia u20 brings the less beaten defense: 1 goal against (its rival scored via free-kick).

Those two teams should qualify to Poland 2019.
