he has better areal ability than anyone on the team which will help us both ends of the pitch. He's suppose to be good on the ball but where I think he'll help us the most is he's very vocal. He will be much like Cara was at the end of his carrier when he had to play with kids but was able to get them to play well beyond their ability. From what I've heard, like Cara, he knows how the defense should be organized and won't be shy about making sure that everyone is in the right place. I think he'll make every player in the back like perform like they cost 10-15 more than they did.

I'm fine with incentive laden contracts. If you play like the best you should get paid like the best. While Robertson and TAA matured and played at a level most wouldn't anticipate, it's VVD that made our defense what it is. He made Lovern look like a new signing. Now we need to get a replacement for Lovren because if VVD gets injured that defense will get dramatically worse
