Finally got our block of season tickets nailed down today. We'll be smack dab in the middle of 226, Row 9. I still need to look into a supplementary multi-game package or two. And, you know, figure out how I'm going to pay for it all.
I can see how that would be annoying. That is on them reading too much into it. Garble was uncomfortable & defensive today. I do not think that was a reach at all. He was not a happy camper. And the reverse is almost never true. Happy camper WITH arms crossed.
2 tickets left in all of Nordecke...section 104 (right next to it) still has some seats. That's where I am and I love it.
Garber's Broccoli scarf on one side will say "Austin FC" and the other "Sell my soul to the highest bidder."
So it wasn't open to fans....unless you were on the VIP platinum list. Apparently they didn't want 12000 people coming down. I thought our #businessmetrics were terrible. Huh.
missed everything as it was live, and I haven't read up on everyone's comments yet... but watching the presser now getting to Porter... he gave me chills. talking about growing up watching the crew, dreaming of coming here, molding Akron after studying the crew, his decision-making to choose this job (implicitly over LA), how this is "home"... chills man. he is sincere about this job.
So back before this whole Save The Crew moment...err movement was necessary, I was unaware of Morgan Hughes' existence. When I watched the first few minutes of that STC "movie," I said out loud, "who the ******** is this Morgan Hughes guy representing Crew fans?" Then shortly after that exclamation, I stopped watching that thing. Well we are now 14+ or so months out from that point in time. I am aware that Morgan Hughes exists. I think a whole lot of people are aware (for better or for worse). Good for everyone in our community. Even the ones that unfortunately get cropped out. We saved the Crew, folks. And no not you, Garber. Don, see you back in Ohio when we win the MLS Cup here in Columbus! Practice saying "Columbus Crew" like a Catholic says her Hail Marys. Every damn night.
Honestly, after today I could care as much about what happens to Broccoli FC as I do actual broccoli after I eat it. They are the crap left behind once everything good cleans up and leaves.
That's a crime in its own right. I have only met Morgan once, personally I like him, some seem not to...but you can't ignore what he did for StC and getting us where we are today.
You got to give the devil his due he really is the one who rallied the troops. The first 72 hours people had seemed to have lost hope.
I knew of Morgan before 10/17/17 but not all that much. The STC movement needed a vocal front person and Morgan filled that role perfectly. She along with others has spent countless hours working to save the team so I'm willing to give her some slack.
It takes a special person to put himself out there like that, knowing he would take a lot of criticism, a lot of jokes at his expense about how the crew wouldn't be saved and how all he is doing is pointless. Even some of us Crew fans didn't think the team could be saved. He put his name out there for sure, and never got off the message of the team would be saved, and he was an easy target for those that don't agree. He's got more balls than I do.
I managed to dislocate my elbow in 2008 by falling off a ladder and this picture is giving me a little soreness in the elbow right now.
Missed the presser, have not watched the video replay but read through the posts. Some thoughts. Don and a Scarf - Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I am completely fine with the Doesn't. Don wearing our scarf doesn't legitimize us, our scarf legitimizes him. And he doesn't deserve that from us yet. On the 'relaunch', here is the first game tifo...
I'm just honored that Don Garber graced our city with his presence. We are lucky that a guy who fought so hard to keep our team in this city he loves was able to make time to attend this event he is responsible for.
Rewatching the presser after getting back from court. Twellman failed to use the proper form of address for introducing the new Crew owner: Dee of the House Haslam, First of Her Name Mother of Dragons Breaker of Chains Saver of the Crew
It's also the case that the next fan base may not be as polite and non-violent as SaveTheCrew. They're playing with fire and they know it, as evidenced by the precautions undertaken for today's ceremonies.
Also, they are talking about the press conference today and apparently playing Africa was Arica Kress' work.
Well Morgen did drink, eat, lick what the last Regime was serving, the name of his Podcast is stilled named after him. So he's partly guilty and he did make up for it.
