amongst other reasons, why korean prospects are not as popular as japanese prospects: 1. the possibility of military service deflates the value of a player. why invest in a prospect who has that risk, over a comparable prospect whose future value does not have that risk? 2. k-league clubs require income from transfer fees, less so than j-league clubs who are better off financially. similar prospects don't have similar costs, as j-league clubs tend to have the financial capability to loan or sell players for less than what k-league clubs might sell for, all else equal.
Nam Tae Hee could have surely stay in France/Europe, but I think he's one guy that actually took the money instead of staying in Europe. Others, I agree. They didn't really have concrete offers so options were 1) stay in Korea 2) go to China and make more
i don't think this is much of a factor tbh especially when EU clubs focus on purchasing players at 18-21 (even younger these days when you look at the trend.. Vinicius Jr being an example) outside of EU. it becomes an issue if a player has successful EU career but typically, it has been way too short. another big difference between Korea and Japan.. "market". Korea is small market compared to Japan & clubs (even small clubs) actually benefit financially to some degree when clubs have Japanese players on their roster. when EU clubs have tours in Asia, the focus is mostly on China & Japan. perhaps.. and one can argue he took the money but he was already in Europe + struggling for playing time. i was asking if a player rejected a move to Europe & took the money from China or ME instead.
When the team won Asian Games in 2014 and 2018 who went from Asia to Europe? Just 1 player and he's rotting in Germany 2nd division. Among the 2018 team who's going to Europe? Nobody except for HIB who is going to Vancouver.
Maybe he would have improved if he stayed in Europe but his displays for the NT say he would not have lasted very long in Europe.
Nam was also only like 20 years old when he moved to Qatar. We could speculate all we want if he would have developed into a better player staying in Europe.
Hwang In-beom denied this rumor, mr. sock. http://m.donga.com/?p9=http://news.donga.com/Top/3/05/20181218/93351772/1
Unfair to call that poster a sock, since it was an actual rumor that HIB might be moving to MLS. But good that he denied it.
BTW, anyone bullish on Park Ji Soo (Gyeongnam CB)? Granted, he should be behind Kim Min Jae and Kim Young Kwon in the depth chart. But I think Park Ji Soo could be good asset for us on the national team
Kwon Kyung Won is the better player and Bento style in terms of build up. I think Park Ji Soo is going to lose his place to Jung Seung Hyun as CB no.4 even tho I don't rate him that much (Jung)...
Admittedly, i dont know or remember enough about KKW to comment on him. I like Jung SH as well. despite park ji soo’s age, i don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet. Give him two more full campaigns and he’ll be even better. Im going by his potential
announcement delayed by 90 minutes because of injuries from the practice match vs U-23 KNT. It seems Ju Se Jong got hurt, which is why Bento & staff needed a little more time before announcement. KYG also got a minor injury but he should be okay, from reports.
