Some really intriguing matchups. Many we haven't seen for a while.

Lyon has the strangest group stage record. Unbeaten, but with 1 win and 5 draws. Their only win being over Man City. Don't know much about them, but beating Man City is definitely something not to ignore.

Would love to see Ajax provide an upset. And between Atletico and Juve, I think I want Juve to go through. Would hate to meet Atletico again at any point.

Not a bad draw. Not only the opponent but I prefer playing the second leg in mid-March over early-March, since el clasico is in early March. Barca will be free the midweek after el clasico, while Madrid have their second-leg match against Ajax on the following Tuesday (meaning el clasico will be on the Saturday). Although we do have 2 tough fixtures in Seville the weekend after both legs (first @ Sevilla, then @ Betis).

Only thing that sucks is that Liverpool - Bayern play at the same time as Barca - Lyon. Grr... arguably the 2 matchups I want to see the most. Althoguh Spurs v Dortmund should also be great too! Atleti - Juve will be intriguing. The rest I can skip.

Oh yeah, congrats to PSG for finally reaching the QFs.

Looking at the pre-draw odds (which I posted above on Friday) here are the "seeds" and how they were drawn:

    1 v 15 ManC v Shalke
    2 v 12 Barca v Lyon
3 v 7 Juve v Atleti (both will see longer odds)
4 v 10 PSG v ManU (similar to just above)
    5 v. 8 Bayern v Liverpool (same again)
    6 v 12 Real v Ajax
    ---7 & 8 above already
9 v 11 BVB v Spurs (great even match up but odds should shorten a bit)
    ---
13 v 13 (tied) Porto v Roma (still long shots but odds much shorter as one will make final 8)

I will update the odds later today and show how they changed.

Did you see yesterday's game?

First thing would be to work-out the issue with Pogba. If he doesn't play, they have no chance! But he's just one player on a one-dimensional team (park-the-bus & hoof long-balls forward for a counter) that gives their counter-attack some potential. Still doesn't seem near enough to beat PSG.

Lyon is a stronger team than many realize but if we play close to our best, we should progress through this tie. The next four to five weeks in La Liga will be crucial to build a cushion so we can rotate from February onwards. I'd probably give Messi and a few other starters a break in the CdR.

I think CDR will be very low priority this season unlike others. If not, management is pretty stupid.
