Pablo Perez in the hospital, confirmed he won't be playing. There seems to be some issue with the CONMEBOL doctors, who were not allowed to check on him. Apparently he was sent to the hospital right away, and the other injured players are deemed to be well enough to play.

In short, too big to fail. Boca will play, even if with suplentes.

Mandaron la ambulancia de regreso para que los doctores de CONMEBOL vean a Perez. Toda una novela.

Nobody is going to raise a brow at Boca refusing to allow CONMEBOL's doctors to run a physical on their players?

FOX Deportes commentators speculating that Perez could have cut his hand himself, punched his own eye to make it look affected by gas, etc.

I'm not sure we should fault them for prioritizing treatment over appeasing a mafia.

FOX has paid a ton for this game, they want it to happen. Next they'll say it was Boca fans throwing the pepper spray.

Nah.. if you want to prove your point that your players are supposedly unfit to play, you allow the doctors in. It solidifies your argument.

Denying doctors access wreaks of hiding something..

At this point that's irrelevant. You have a bus that has a bunch of broken glass. Have fun with the violence in the city after the game. I would think at this point it's a public security issue.

The doctors were allowed in, twice. What the report says is that "los doctores no pudieron constatar las lesiones" which can mean anything. Pablo Perez has a cut in his cornea, that cannot be self-inflicted. The most serious damage was the brick, the broken glass, actually.

Dr. Otamendi went again to check on the player in the ambulance.

That's speculation. I heard also on fox that the doctors went into the locker room twice... so.
Besides, how do you check for a cornea injury in a locker room?
Perez is coming back to the stadium in an ambulance back from the clinic with a big patch on his eye now... and I'm sure he's got a diagnosis with him.
Boca does not want to play. They already asked for another meeting with Dominguez.
    The saga continues...

50 minutes from "gametime" and Angelici is going to meet with CONMEBOL's president once again... no word on players warming up or anything.

    I sense a postponement

Ok. looks like the doctors were allowed to see Perez, who was complaining about his eye. Since the doctors couldn't see the corneal cut, Boca decided to send him to a hospital. They made the ambulance return, and the Dr. now in the Otamendi is the one qualified to examine the eye (proper instruments).

According to Boca, they already got the paperwork establishing the lesion, from the hospital. It's enough to prove ONE player was affected to the point of being unable to play to have grounds to cancel the game.

A reminder CONMEBOL could have avoided all this by applying the law in the semis.

Qué siniestro lo de Conmebol y Fifa.

Si los obligan a River y Boca tienen una posibilidad histórica negándose y dejándolos en ridículo y en evidencia.

O que arranque el partido y se queden parados.

The C-BOL Dr. seems to be of the opinion that the corneal abrasion is not serious enough to preclude Pablo Perez from playing. Truth be told, he wasn't likely to.

But, as Tévez said, "no se dan las condiciones para jugar," these are not the right condition to go on with the game. Several players have small cuts, the pepper spray can be washed away, but the focus has been destroyed.

It's a disgrace that they are proceeding with the game.

The C-BOL had said the game would be played even BEFORE having a proper look at Perez or seeing the hospital papers. Vergonzoso.

I agree.. apparently River/Gallardo were siding with Boca, but CONMEBOL insisted on the game being played.

I'd love to see @Sandinista's proposal actually happen, although unlikely

If I was a Boca fan I would not be pissed if my team pulled off even if it meant punishment.

Truly perplexing by CONMEBOL. I have no words for this. A true disgrace.

What if both teams don't play ? Should be that easy. Give a middle finger to CONMEBOL. I can tell you Brazilian teams would be right behind that.

It's crazy that Infantino is at this game and is letting it go.

Yup, that's what I was referring to with "@Sandinista's proposal"

Anyway, looks like Pablo Perez is likely to start now. Boca would be playing with the same XI as they would have pre-incident
