The surprise was that Wilmar didn't move to Europe this last summer already. The transfer to the Spuds was supposedly a done deal, and then it didn't happen.
CONMEBOL announced that if Saturday’s final goes on to be defined in a PK shootout, VAR will be used in said instance for the first time Recipe for disaster.. and of course they decide to test it out in the final, of all games. Lets hope the game is settled within 90 mins to avoid this guaranteed controversy
Nah, that would be goal line technology, no problem with that. VAR in this case would be to verify if the goalies stepped forward early or if the penalty taker does something illegal (pausing before shot, invasion of box, etc.) You could already imagine the scandal that would be unleashed if VAR makes a stopped penalty be repeated in a game of this magnitude.
That is horse shit. Although that is one of my biggest pet peeves in football as GKs step off the line early all the time, you don't implement that last minute. That wasn't part of VAR for the WC not it is for any other leagues using it AFAIK. It sure is asking for trouble. But hey ... CONMEBOL
River fans attacked Boca's bus and now they are suffering the effects of pepper spray. Isn't this the same scenario that caused a forfeit? Just give the Copa to Boca now.
Two big differences: 1) the pepper spray came from the police, not River fans... 2) all this occurred outside of the stadium Another huge difference: River was up in the aggregate score at the time of the 2015 attack, unlike Boca here. But of course we know you don't want to play the game...
In this video where can CLEARLY see the pepper spray was thrown by river supporters and NOT the police.. pic.twitter.com/GFCcckvpUg— Boca in English | Podcast (@CABJ_English) November 24, 2018 Tiraste gas, abandonaste!
A couple of Boca players taken in an ambulance. WW 3 it is ... it's damn embarassing indeed. These are not football fans ... the ones that throw stones and etc ...
Otra oportunidad más perdida delante del mundo entero que nos observa, vergonzoso, lamentable.— Gabriel Batistuta (@GBatistutaOK) November 24, 2018
How is the game not called off yet ? Hearing they might play tomorrow under closed doors. Just a possibility.
damn what's happening? It's almost midnight here in Qatar, with the game starting at 11 pm.. was gonna stay up late to watch it, but as I have to give a class in about 8 hours will probably leave it for later. All the pregame show is in Arabic, is the game still on?
The latest official word was an hour delay, but Boca's captain is injured and unable to play, so they don't want to play while FIFA and CONMEBOL are pressuring them to for $$$
Damn too bad... have been wearing my Boca shirt around Qatar all week in anticipation for this. Hopefully everyone makes it out okay...
I just read comments that FIFA and CONMEBOL are forcing Boca to play. That can't be right. That's criminal.
Son casi las 6pm en Buenos Aires, el partido está programado para 7:15pm. Boca no quiere, con varios jugadores afectados.
Just in -- the game will is scheduled for 19:15hs today, although Boca is still opposed (looking to take the win off the field or play it another day without fans). It has already been delayed multiple times, so this isn't set in stone, but for now this is the decision... If CONMEBOL does indeed move forward with this decision, Boca will be obligated to play. If they refuse to show up, they'd not only lose the match, but also face a possible ban from CONMEBOL competitions.
