And yet Uruguay continues to be strong in WCs with 3.5 million people... Granted, I wonder how they will be when Cavani, Suarez and Godin retire...
Costa Rica is a decent side that had a dream generation in 2014 and the stars aligning to make it to the fifth game. Now the members of the generation are leaving and now are only decent when it comes to the world stage.
2018 they had a strong WC. 2014 they lost to CR in group stages and eliminated by Colombia in 2nd round 2010 finished 3rd and eliminated CR in WCQ play-offs 2006 did not qualify cuz of Socceroos Seems like they have a bad WC then a good WC. Their best performances in WCs was well before we were born. Tabarez has already had to refill the cupboard before.. Recoba and co. then Lugano and Forlan.. I think it'll be the same when Cavani and Suarez and Godin retire. Uruguay will forever be a problem until Tabarez leaves. He's grooming the next generation already. Gimenez, Betancur, etc.
CR education is ranked 20th globally iirc... Pinto even mentioned that their high educative standards paves the way for their players to adapt and understand "tough" footy concepts that a team like Honduras couldn't grasp cuz their educative standards are sh1t. They'll probably pull another 5 game run at a WC before Honduras or Panama wins 1-2 games at a WC tbh.
Some BIG MLS coaching news: I'm told that Club Tijuana is set to hire Oscar Pareja as their new manager. Pareja will be leaving FC Dallas after five seasons as head coach. #MLS #DTID #Xolos https://t.co/BAxSKc52tT— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) November 17, 2018
Well let’s see this is the result of bringing in a coach who hasn’t been in managing since 2015 IIRC. His call ups have been horrid he doesn’t bring any strikers when everyone knows the way this competition has been *cough* rigged *cough* set up is to score and score often. He also continues to go with the 4-5-1 when like I stated before they need goals. They had opportunities to try multiple strikers but he chooses not to. Also I mentioned it in the thread over in the other boards historically ES has struggled in Bermuda not sure why but prior to this game their last two visits resulted in a loss and a draw.
No recontramames... We’re ranked 15-20 in the world consistantly, that’s about our level. Also consitantly getting out of the group stages in the past 7 WCs. You can’t really compare the success we’ve had to theirs based on a fluke WC. Tenias que ser wila...
Rankings mean jack best example look at England how many years were the being wrongfully ranked in the top 10, or more recently Belgium “being tied” with France despite France beating them in the WC. So I post this question to you. Is it really success when it is something Mexico is expected to do?
Rankings do mean jack but Mexico has consistantly gotten to the WC and out of the group stages. I’m speaking if we’re comparing the three teams...Never did I say on the world stage. And it’s defintely success, not many countries can say they’ve done the same. Mexico has a long way to go if we want to challenge the elite teams.

And they will host the Final Four as well. That's your intro music, CR7... Yes, the prestige of the Nations League title is questionable, but Portugal aren't the kind of elite side that can afford to thumb their noses at a trophy.
Specially because the competition there isn't exactly chopped liver. A win in a tournament with high level competition like that cannot do anything, but add good rep.
