This competition is lending itself to being interesting and exciting. Depending on results tonight, there is a very real possibility that come the final matchday in February, we could be looking at a situation where teams relative minnows like Montserrat and Dominica play with the possibility of qualifying for the Gold Cup. Where a side that everyone though might be playing for League A, might be playing to avoid League C, that side of course being French Guiana. In all likelyhood, El Salvador will have to beat Jamaica just to qualify for the Gold Cup, when they should've been a team playing for League A qualification. Funny enough, one of the selling points of this tournament was a chance to have minnows playing competitive games against each other, but when the next iteration of this tournament rolls around, we could see League C having a strong Guatemala team, and good French Guiana team and a solid Antigua & Barbuda. Wicked scorelines for the minnow may continue.

I hope Guyana beats French Guiana today just for the drama it would cause on Matchday 4. If Guyana wins today, on Matchday 4 it would be Guyana vs. Belize. The winner would move on to the Gold Cup, the loser fails to qualify, and a draw could either see both sides in the Gold Cup, or both sides out, depending on other results. A Guyana win today would also mean that in February, French Guiana would have to travel to Canada (rumours are Vancouver is to host) and get a result to avoid League C. A loss would send them down, a draw might not be enough to stay in League B.
That would put Guyana on 7 points with Belize on 6 before that match. Guyana would certainly make the Gold Cup with 10 points (they may even squeeze through with 7, especially with their +8 goal differential). But with 9 points Belize isn't guaranteed a Gold Cup spot yet. There's currently 13 teams with 6 or more points (6 having 9). There'll be 14 teams if Guyana and French Guinea don't draw. Two of the countries with 6 points (Dominican and Bermuda) will play each other. In theory there could be 12 teams with 9 or more points. If so we could see two teams at 9 points not making the Gold Cup. March 26th in Canada. Which can be quite warm. Though I'm all for them playing in Iqaluit! A couple of months ago CSA was indicating that Toronto was to host, even announcing a 7 pm Eastern kickoff. Concacaf's website still says the game is in Toronto. But yes, there are rumours it may well be in Vancouver, now that they've just resodded the pitch at BMO Field, and are planning to sew in hybrid fibres in the spring.
The wiki for Nations League also shows BMO Field. When I first saw the schedule and saw the March date against French Guiana, I thought it would be nice to play it in Vancouver as a homecoming of sorts for Alphonso Davies; I wouldn't even mind if they held it at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Davies' hometown (late winter conditions in Edmonton would certainly be an advantage for CANmnt…)
Concacaf's own website says BMO Field. And at the October game at BMO, they flashed up on the board the date of the March game, noting that it started at 7 pm Eastern (but not mentioning a venue). However, in post-game comments the coach (Herdman) mentioned Vancouver, but CSA quickly edited these out of the ones they posted. It's not clear if they are working on changing the venue, of if Herdman just misspoke. At the same time they resodded BMO field last week, and some reports are they'll be bringing in equipment during the March FIFA break to sew in hybrid fibres, to try and strengthen the pitch - which has been problematic with excessive winter and Canadian football usage in the last couple of years.
Being selfish, I hope Guyana (the English one ) fail to win so that absolutely no one is on seven points. That way, Haiti just needs a draw with Cuba and...well, actually, a draw would put both of us in League A

Follow-up after almost all the 3rd Matchday games have been played. Montserrat continues to be the over-achiever of the Pot D teams. They are all the way up in 14th but even on points with 7th place Bermuda. They will face Cayman Islands in the last match so they have a good shot at making the Gold Cup. The rest of Pot D is in the bottom 10 spots. Pot C teams slid back a bit. They are all at #17 or lower. They will get a few teams into League B but they are going to have tough sledding in there. Pot B has all its teams in the top 16 except for Antigua & Barbuda who is in danger of falling into League C especially since they face Curacao who is in first overall in the final match. Pot A teams have 5 of the 6 League A spots. On the other hand, El Salvador is down at #13 and Guadeloupe is all the way down at #20. Guadeloupe could fall all the way down into League C with a loss against Martinique in their finale.
Thanks to that 3-pt gap between 6th and 7th, all the teams currently in the Top 6 just need a draw to guarantee League A participation.
As a huge fan of underdogs, I'm definitely looking forward to Bermuda/Dominican Republic. If that game produces a winner, it will be their first ever appearance in a gold cup. If Bermuda wins, they would likely grab League A with their absurd goal differential if Jamaica or Martinique lose.
Too bad lots of people are missing out on this competition, mainly some USMNT who still claims that the League of Nation tournament is beneath their team. Curacao will be an emerging force in CONCACAF. Guys playing in the Netherlands plays for them.
USMNT are automatically in League A... Which means they have to wait like the rest of us already qualified for League A... Whose mans is this? Smh
