Reach get in! So in our last 10 vs them, in all competitions, we're 3 - 2 - 5. In the last 6 we're 0 - 1 - 5. Historically we've been level with them going 46 - 18 - 46. Since 2000 we've lost to them 9 times with only 4 wins and 2 draws. I think they've been better than us for a while now. https://www.11v11.com/teams/sheffield-wednesday/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Middlesbrough/
Birmingham ... another team I feel like we don't do well against... at least not lately. 6 - 3 - 7 in the last 16. Better than I thought I guess...
game on in just an hour, or so. I've got to go to work now so I can't watch, or even monitor, this one. might be just as well, as Wednesday are a bit shite, United decent, and it's at the Sty. still, hopefully they can make a fist of it. UTO/FTB
That reminds me of the Yankees and Red Sox. Since 2002, the Yankees are 162-155 (.511) against the Red Sox in the regular season.
About equal head-to-head records are unique compared to descriptions of Premier League games saying Everton has won one of their last thirty games at Chelsea or something like that.
apples and oranges, in a sense. I mean, Wednesday never win away at the Pigs, either. Tudgay's scorcher at the Sty in '09 aside, I can't remember the last time. plenty of draws … but winning away and overall competitiveness can differ quite a lot.
and it's not just head-to-head. I saw a table the other day (which I frustratingly now cannot find) that averaged the league positions of every club (i.e., 1-92 at the present) throughout the history of the football league. Wednesday and United were adjacent, with the former ranked (I think) 28th and the latter 29th. to be honest, I wouldn't have thought it that close. United seems about right to me, but I would've thought Wednesday would have been more like low-20s. I guess they've gone through some pretty rough stretches, to be fair.
You can use a calculator or Excel to calculate average positions from http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/sheu.htm and http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/shew.htm
I wonder how much longer Chansiri can stick with Jos. The knives are well and truly out at Hillsborough.
