Music and women's soccer are probably the best two things in the world, so together they can conquer the universe :D Or maybe just this thread.

    U should post

    - Songs about WoSo, as many bangers as possible

    - Chants that someone has made up

    - Music that's popular at the game

    - Footballers who make music, like Chelcee Grimes

    - Rapping commentators

    - Poetry and stuff(?)

Beats & Rhymes FC has interviews with a lot of women's players about their favourite music, with Christian Brookes

And the US women's national team gave away the secret music that helped them to become the World Cup champions. Make sure you're writing this down:

"Usually we start with Coldplay's 'A Sky Full of Stars' or Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud'"

Hmm, maybe anyone can win it.

[IMG] The team with the most musical nickname, the Reggae Girlz, are Jamaica's national team.

And they have their own song! It was made by three of the children of Bob Marley – Cedella, Stephen and Damian Marley

    Play it loud

When national anthems go wrong (Part 1 of 700)

    1: [IMG] Wales

The PA system didn't work, they sang it themselves

    2: [IMG] @Fureeku's Maldives

"The second day of the tournament on Wednesday India and Maldives lined up for the national anthem. But the organisers could not play the national anthem of Maldives through sound systems citing technical reasons. Instead some of the Maldives players were handed over microphones to sing the anthem themselves. But FIFA and Indian national anthem went on as international practice, played though the sound systems."
I know that many people would sympathize with John Lennon's "imagine there's no countries". But if they come to visit, you do have to get their music right...

I am genuinely curious to know how that went, considering that most of us never bother to learn the words and resort to mumbling along with the tune instead.

    "Imagine there's no lyrics" :)

Actually it was broadcast live, you can see it at this point in the match video (but we don't see a microphone as such). They did an OK job given they're not professional singers...

[IMG] The Lionesses' unofficial songwriter in recent years was Kendow, as he released two party pop hits near-misses, including "England Women, Come Together", because if you ACHIEVE then you can BELIEVE. But now he's gone off-piste and done an American one! With the same tune!

Also, Kirsty Gallacher from the telly composed an England chant, although maybe it works better as a poem.

@BarryfromEastenders, as our main England expert, can you answer this very important musical question.... is there any word that rhymes with 'England'? The songwriters of the nation need to know.

Sorry to put you on the spot like that, @BarryfromEastenders.
Apparently, England does rhyme with the word, "delinquent"

[IMG] Germany Women's World Cup songs are a kind of industry in themselves, for example "Sister hit the goal" from 2011, but I haven't found a good one for this year.

So, who has the best World Cup music? :) @blissett @Lechus7, do you know if anyone wrote a Nadeshiko Japan song?

Shiina Ringo wrote a song called Nippon.
The song was used as the 2014 football theme song for NHK.

Also I remember that, shortly after 2011 World Cup, Nahomi Kawasumi was so popular that she had been mentioned in a Japanese song, but I can't remember the band that had done that! :p I should search some Nadeshiko Japan thread of old to retrieve that song!

St.Kitts&Nevis finished last in the group but Browne's playlist is the winner ;)
(the fact that is -2 C outside right now here in PL and the Caribbean notes that remind me of palm beach may have something to do with my pick )
