@Catracho_Azul How high do you rate this u-20 generation? Cause it's the same that just got 3rd place en los juegos no? Who are the best prospects ? Will they be in the UNCAF that's coming in a few days ? Cause now with the new more difficult Qualyfing format, I still see Mexico, the US as locks, followed by you guys. With the tthe last spot to be fought over by everyone else (depending on the draw ofc).
They're rated highly. Yes they're fresh from finishing 3rd in Barranquilla. Best prospects are probably the ones that play regular first team ball in Liga Nacional, so most of them lol. uhhh I guess they'll be in UNCAF? I haven't heard of anything U-20 related coming up, besides the Qualifiers in November from Bradenton, Florida.(IMG Academy). We're probably a lock for the 2019 U-20 WC unless something goes absolutely wrong.
Man, a lot of our players have made their debuts but only a few get regular minutes. Then you include the fact that we have been working for less time than the other nations and our players don't have the "rodaje internacional" due to our suspension, and our chances begin to look bleak Este mira, Torneo Centroamericano Sub-19 de UNCAF se jugará del 19 al 26 de agosto de 2018 en las ciudades de Siguatepeque y Comayagua, Honduras. pic.twitter.com/O6o8QNpJft— UNCAF / Oficial (@uncaf) July 21, 2018 Due to the change in qualifying format, this is only for preparation & bragging rights Calendar
lol idk if our best U-19s will be there... They might be because of the sole fact that Honduras are hosts, but then again some have already moved abroad (Decas y Douglas Martinez), while others are starters on their club and our season is underway and they've already missed pre-season cuz of the CAC Games. (Calix, Baptiste, Diego, Guevara) If this tournament is strictly para rigiar(rijiar?), then I can see Tabora call-up the fringe U-20s and give them a shot since they probably didn't get one in Barranquilla.
That's would be a shame, at least for us. Since none of our players got to participate in their u-17 cycle, this was gonna be their first taste of international games. I rather we play you guys' best version, but it is what it is
I believe we're Central American U19 Champions! Lol Guatemala 1-1 Costa Rica Guatemala 1-0 Panamá Guatemala 1-0 Honduras Guatemala 2-0 Nicaragua Guatemala 3-0 El Salvador Guatemala vs Belice 26/08 I wasn't expecting much from this team but at least it gives us optimism about the future.
Well, I'm more suprised at the results than the performances. Since a lot of these playes have already played in La Liga Nacional. Have you seen the games though? Por momentos nos hemos visto bien y por otros mal. Low key they remind me of the 2015 generation. Solid defensively and effective when we get chances to score. Though I see more of an "identity" with them than the one Carlos "Xuxa" Ruiz had. There have been some very good goals too. At the end of the day, most of our chances lie on which group we land, with the new format. Hopefully, we land in the one with the salvies.
There were a few golazos tbh. The one against Costa Rica was good due Rosa's run. El de honduras tambien, y eso que el mismos Rosas tuvo una igual que la revento en el palo. The first goal against Nicaragua & the third against the salvies. I think i have them somewhere so I'll post them later.
Los Dioses Del Futbol were kinda to us in the u-20 draw. We have a fighting chance even we're not favorites to qualify to the WC Not only nos toco el cabeza de serie mas debil (El Salvador was terrible en el uncaf sub 19) but we also got one of the groups with only 5 teams so we get to play less games before the second round (provided the caribbean teams dont turn out to be strong) For the second round we're not favorites but we can compete. On paper it'll be Mexico & Panama. Mexico is a lock in for a spot imo, and even though Panama was better en el Uncaf ww still manage to beat them. Let's see how we do, especially now that we lost an important cog ib our system due to injury (our DM Javier Estrada won't make it)
We got a favorable group but we're Guatemala and we tend to disappoint. Considering we won the recent UNCAF tournament then we're favorites. But honestly anything can happen.
I think the Uncaf title might be misleading. You only have to look at the performances. Panama had the better tournament imo. So if it all goes down as it should, we make it to the 2nd round but Mexico & Panama take the WC spots. Pero esto es futbol, let's see what happens.
List of the u-20 players for the Mexico camp. They just lost to a third division team there 3-2 ( 4 of the starters didn't participate in the Honduras tournament). And they're playing Pachuca u-20 tomorrow. If one of our guys could get picked up by Pachuca though... A guy can dream right ? Also, it's amazing how "stacked" we are with midfielders and how lacking we are with defenders. At midfield we have Barrientos, Garrido, Mota, Galvez, Castellanos and Alvarado (the latter two playing as CBs for this team). That's without Mendez (suspended), J. Estrada (starter until he got injured) and Valdizon (injured). There's also Cifuentes but he's been used as a left back so far. I still don't know why Gardiner keeps ignoring Donato Dardon. Dude's been a mainstay for Petapa's backline. I can only hope that he wasn't called cause he's too important for Petapa at this point of the season.

Oscar Santis keeps scoring. He's definitely making the squad for the premundial and might even challenge Rosas & Cuilapita for the wings. Which hopefully end up Gardiner's experiment of playing Orellana (a ST) there. Funnily enough, I think his future lies there as a center forward too. He was highly rated in Suchi (made his debut at 16) and even managed to become a starter for them in the season they went down. He's a bit of a hothead though. Let's hope he can cut that out of his game. Last game is on friday against Pachuca u-20. Let's see how we do against them.
Incompetence at its finest
a lot of height in the team but no technique. The only 2 that seem to have any future is the GK aguirre and Palencia. But from what I've seen, doesn't look like a particularly talented generation
too young to tell. Wouldn't get caught up with U15-16-17 NTs. They're still in development plus on top of that a lot of politics goes behind player selections so a lot of times, truly, the best kids aren't really on the team(they missed practice, couldn't travel, other commitments) which is why huge percentage of U15-16-17s will probably never see U-20-23 NTs. What is it.. like on average ~6% of U-17ers actually make it to represent their respective Senior Mens NT.? Just enjoy what you can when they play lol
Agree, I honestly dont care about the u-17 for the same reason. At their age, some of them simply stand out for being taller, stronger faster. But even then, its surprising that we lack technique. Thats the thing we always had even if was shown only in glimpses.
