US needs to give Canouse a serious look (not based on this goal obviously)... Persistence pays off...@RussellCanouse with a HUGE goal for DC! 1-0. #DCvDAL https://t.co/hvvlCmKtSe— Major League Soccer (@MLS) October 13, 2018 1051243360432910340 is not a valid tweet id WHAT a BIg goal for D.C. United, Russell Canouse w/a 85th minute goal to make it 1-0 DCU vs. FC Dallas. Canouse followed up his own volley off the bar, scored a would-be winner, &earned a bloodied nose in the process. Some bad defending by the normally stingy FCD defense there— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) October 13, 2018 Can’t say enough about how impressive Canouse has been for DC United since coming back from injury. He just plays that No. 6 so well. That goal probably sent DCU to the playoffs #DCUvDAL— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) October 13, 2018
Yes, and if you think about it, Brooks needing help in midfield on defense and Delgado not getting very wide fast and us lacking lb but having Yedlin at rb (and Lima and Cannon) -----------------------weah ----------wes(Roldan)-----Pulisic ------adams-------trapp----Delgado(parks) -parker---brooks--------miazga----Yedlin(lima, cannon) That's what I call balance. Move Yedlin to rw and you have 3331. Parker will make a good defender to keep in the back when Brooks goes into the attacking box on corners. We have speed on left with Adams and on the right with Yedlin and Pulisic; we have passing out of the back with Brooks to Trapp to Delgado to Wes. We have ball winning team of Delgado, Adams and Wes. Now people just have to relax and stop harassing Trapp while guys like Canouse et al emerge to challenge him for the spot. Or do you want Bradley?
No trapp, delgado and parker ----------------Sargent--------------------- ----------------Pulisic---------------------- Adams-------------------------Wes---------- ---------------A competant DM------------- Robinson----Brooks-----Miazga-----Yedlin ----------------Steffen---------------------------- Would like to see Canouse next camp, wish Keaton got a loan.
Robinson at lb? That's what I call true love. I haven't met that competent DM yet. I'm all for a Trapp/Canouse contest for the spot. The comment on our midfield, when Wes and Adams played together, was that it wasn't meshing. And now people are saying the Miazga-Brooks cb combo will not work. So, adding Parker and Delgado was my way of ameliorating the situation.
I was gonna just put "competent attacking lb." Hopefully bello pans out. Parker should only see the field as a cb. Delgado would be so bad against non concacaf players also.
Canouse and EPB should battle for destroyer defensive mid unless EPB is needed to be that mobile CB that also seems to be needed. Not suggesting that a destroyer is needed for every game either. EPB hasn't come along quickly enough at his club yet though. I do think their needs to be a fudge rule invoked if there is a clear indication a player isn't getting a fair shake with their club. Klinsman invoked it with Bobby Wood. Should be used sparingly but if EPB is on the bench other than poor play because the coach is mad at loanees in general or Tata Martinez won't play Carleton even though he shows well the very few minutes he gets then call them into camp etc. Don't shoehorn them in as starters but see in person whether they are better than their coaches are treating them.
Nice goal by Bwana. His returns further strengthens Seattle's playoffs push. Go on, @handwalla! 🙌Bwana's second goal of the season makes it 2-0!SEA 2 | ORL 0 #ORLvSEA pic.twitter.com/4CE1zseuNU— Seattle Sounders FC (@SoundersFC) October 17, 2018
Busio was pretty impressive. For the most part Vermes is simplifying the game for the 16 year old, but he reads space well and gets the ball in areas where his teammates can attack. He moves well, too. That he performed this well in a critical match for both Vancouver and SKC at 16 years old is remarkable.
Busio was subbed on in the '63 minute, with the score tied at 1. Vermes showed great confidence in the kid. We've seen two models for getting more minutes to the kids. There is the Union model in which the coach, given his marching orders by management and the ownership, is told to play the kids, as no big signings are coming in. Then there is SKC, where Vermes, who is also management, 'strategically' blooded the kids during the season. I had wondered if following the EPB and Josh Sargent moves to Europe, this were a reactionary step to combat criticism that he hadn't been playing the yoof. But playing Busio against Vancouver at that stage of the game and at this stage of the season shows something else
Except of course that DCU was playing highly meaningful games during the window while Bradley's team is toast. DCU probably would have asked that the USMNT not call him up anyway.
I've been impressed the few times I've seen him play. Shows well for the ball, has good ideas of what to do with it, and does his fair share of work defensively. Clever ball here from 16-yr-old 🇺🇸 Gianluca Busio, who made his 7th MLS appearance last night for Sporting KC and got his first MLS goal. The first 10 of his 30 mins were rough, but he grew into the game and hit several insightful passes. KC scored 3 after he came on. #VANvSKC pic.twitter.com/DeE9YBv3GQ— scuffed (@scuffedpod) October 18, 2018
RSL 3:0 New England[HT] RSL's combination play is destroying NE. NE are pressing, but RSL are easily beating the press to leave the Revs badly exposed to the counter. Baird is playing RAM; he looks more comfortable on the outside. Saucedo is having nice game on the left. Maybe Besler is the post-Beckerman future for them at d-mid, where the former is playing tonight.
Baird seals ROY. Just send the rookie of the year award to the RioT now pic.twitter.com/SD7Y5PeZpj— Real Salt Lake (@realsaltlake) October 19, 2018 Sweet meg by Baird. Saucedo doubles the lead! #RSLvNE pic.twitter.com/7G6fw349ZJ— Major League Soccer (@MLS) October 19, 2018
Nice stat lines by the RSL guys. Baird(22): 4 key passes, 1 goal, 1 assist Herrera(21): 3 fouled, 7 tackles, 3 ints Saucedo(21): 3 fouled, 6 tackles, 1 goal, 1 assist
Let's be honest...New England were basically acting as Traffic Cones out there in Utah last night.........
Baird is the rare American attacking player that comes out of college and does something in the pros. Over the last 8 years there has just been Zardes, Rowe, Sapong, Bunbury, and Morris. And that's me being generous
He won't play. There's always next season. Martino isn't returning, but I think he should probably look for a move away in the offseason anyway. They already signed an Almiron replacement for 15M.
