Barcelona are interested in bringing Alberto Moreno in January, since he has experience in La Liga from his time at Sevilla & his contract ending at the end of the season makes a move for the Spaniard affordable.(MundoDeportivo)
If Milner wants more playing time, that's a separate issue. If he understands his time will reduce and he still wants to stay, he should still be here. It's only because of Klopp's weird player management that he's played so much this season. Milner is a better player than all of them, but either way that's not the point... no one thinks Milner should play all the time when the squad is fully healthy. This is fine, but the point is he has played deeper under Klopp at a rate of almost 4-to-1 compared to playing more advanced as a b2b/"8". So initially him figuring out what to do with Henderson has little to do with how he's used him over the past 2+ years. For many reasons, which have nothing to do with Jordan playing a more advanced role, and nothing to do with Jordan competing with Naby. It's much more about Fabinho being brought along very slowly, and of course Gini & Milner being in great form. Mostly my problem is I don't really think those advanced roles suit Hendo all that much. Maybe Klopp will disagree when Fabinho is more fully integrated... I don't know. I'd imagine a more fully integrated Fabinho means Fabinho and Henderson are rotating for that deeper DM role.
He's going to be around through 2020 if I had to guess. He knows he'll get good minutes and be an important piece for his versatility, experience, and leadership.
The last couple weeks have seen Zielinski's name pop up as he stalls on a new contract. He has a 57m release clause currently and the new contract Napoli offered has a 114m release clause - which Piotr and his representatives are balking at.
Origi is gone in January - Newcastle, Wolves and ...... Everton?....are potential suitors. We want 20m+. He should have gone to Wolves in the summer anyway.
Time to close this thread down and start a winter thread. First rumors are: “Barcelona thinks of Firmino as a substitute for Luis Suárez,” the director of OK Diario has reportedly told El Chiringuito de Jugones. Manchester United and Liverpool are tracking PSV’s 21-year-old winger Steven Bergwijn. Liverpool are also reportedly preparing an offer for Hoffenheim and Germany midfielder Kerem Demirbay, 25. Mundo Deportivo linked Dejan Lovren with a move to the Nou Camp
Lovren to Barca?? Surely not. Yes, which I still perceive as a problem. A more dynamic, versatile attacker seems like it should be in the cards, no? Danny has been really good overall this season, but the falloff from Firmino to Sturridge and then Solanke and Origi is still quite steep, moreso than anywhere else in the squad IMO. Assuming a fully healthy squad, which position should they be targeting in the market do you think?
This doesn't apply to winter, but would love to go in for Martial on a free in July... but I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted out of England altogether.
"Those close to Liverpool goalscorer Mohamed Salah believe the Egyptian intends to leave Liverpool at the end of the current season, with an agreement in place between the player and the Anfield club that he will not be prevented from departing should Barcelona or Real Madrid move for him. Barcelona want Salah to replace Ousmane Dembele at the Camp Nou. (Don Balon)" https://www.skysports.com/football/...talk-juventus-keen-to-reunite-with-paul-pogba It better not be true.
If we can win a trophy or two and challenge in the late stages of the CL, why would he need to leave? If Mourinho or Conte or another similar manager takes the job at the end of the season, does he risk going there where he won't have what is essentially a free role? I can understand Barca as he'd be able to immediately start as the central attacking player. But also have to consider why join a club where the central cast (messi-suarez-rakitic-busquets-pique) is all the wrong side of 30?
Not many better places to play than Liverpool right now. RM doesn’t look like one. Does anyone really think Salah is going to want be teammates with Ramos?
How about a player swap? Moreno for Dembele? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...na-ready-company-Ousmane-Dembele-January.html
Boy he's so damn talented... but isn't his attitude is kind of scary? He's actually producing pretty well, so if this is true for Barca to dump him would be pretty insane. Hints at all kinds of personality issues.
Would certainly be a good move for depth. Especially since it looks like Shaqiri can take up a CM role a la Coutinho/David Silva/Bernardo Silva. And would also likely be the death knell for Wilson.
The front 3 hasn’t even played in the front 3 in recent games. Firmino has taken up a deeper position with Salah ahead of him and either Shaquir or Lallana on the right. This system would allow for our current front 3 and a Dembélé to all play in the same team.
