To be fair we really never got prime Jermaine Jones. He was getting Germany caps at some point. 2010 World Cup we would have beaten Ghana with him.

It is always the players that didn’t play that would have produced the win. Funny how that works. No doubt injuries minimized appearances from Jones during his prime.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Well, he wasn't even able to file the one-time switch until 2009 because before then switching wasn't allowed, period.

If you don't think Jermaine Jones would have done a better job than Rico Clark, not sure how to help you.

He declared making the switch in June 2009 (MB recruited him after a BMG/Schalke match) but was injured/recovering the entire year leading up to the world cup with his weird tibial stress fractures. Sure, he was certainly the better player than Rico and would have been great if he were healthy for 2010 WC. Just gets me that it seems every loss would have been a win if so and so played, was healthy, etc.

Of course it is speculation. But Rico Clark was the obvious weak link in that game, the most responsible for the first Ghana goal. And then he earned a yellow card, and was subbed out in the first half. And we mostly dominated the rest of the game. So I don't think it is undue speculation.

    Also,
Replace Rico Clark with Jermaine Jones in any situation and tell me you don’t improve at least a goal.

    Just as a mental exercise.

I’d suggest the same for some other folks things think in other positions. But I’m not card happy on Tuesdays.

rico clark was good...he just really took a big hit after that WC gaffe....its hard to recover for players when they dont stick with the USMNT....i've seen it lately especailly that a lot of players who dont stick with the USMNT crater big time and actually play worse after getting that fisrt callup but not becoming a regular player....

Especially Jermaine Jones at 28, which is what he would have been at the 2010 World Cup. And at the time he announced his switch he was not injured, and the US had just lost 3-2 in the Confed Cup final, so things were looking really good for the 2010 World Cup with Donovan, Dempsey, and Jones in their prime.

In the 2009/10 season JJ had his "muscular hairline crack" injury that took him out for the whole season (from Jun 26, 2009 to Apr 6, 2010). On 20 October 2009 he made the switch to the USA. The squad for South Africa was announced on June 1st --and at that point JJ had not played for a year and was still in rehab, if I remember correctly.

Mostly good, occasionally will be bad. That's just my prediction.

    I think it's more like he's limping.

Lieblingspanzers don't limp, they may throw a track from time to time, but they don't limp.

    Looks like he's playing...the #10 position today?

Schalke better wins of else we're a Stuttgart win away from having a relegation trifecta (Morales-Wood-McKennie) in the Bundesliga, like we already got in the Premiership (Yedlin-Williams-Ream).

Add Miazga and our relegation prospects are quite impressive.

Looking very good. There was a moment in the 25min or so that was very GIF worthy of #10 play...great touch between two defenders and a subtle lay off to (I think it was Harit) that sparked a break...Mckennie then with a very dangerous run into the box and nearly gets to it. His ability to win headers is an asset in this role

The Shalke 10 shirt is selfish and not good enough to justify his lack of passing

Wes goes 90, but Schalke are about to lose 2-0. Not good.
