zlatans 500 goals https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-incredible-video-mark-500th-career-goal.html
I was curious - 500 seems like a lot. Is that close to the all time record? Hmmm *google google* Pele - 1,281 Oh, well then! https://newtelegraphonline.com/2017/05/highest-goal-scorers-world-football-history/
Well there are three guys currently still active who have reached 500. Pele's 1,281 is controversial by the way, as it includes stuff like youth games. According to the unquestionable oracle that is wikipedia, he has scored a mere 767 professional goals, which places him third in the all-time list. Bloody charlatan! It's also worth noting that more than 50% of the 28 players to reach 500, were still active players during my lifetime. So thanks for making me feel old.
Zlatan back to Malmo? https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/7321159/zlatan-ibrahimovic-offered-return-malmo/ http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/ibrahimovic-teases-sweden-return-with-malmo/knncle6zo9v01m1rr3yxru1lz
I hope he does spend a little time at his home town team before he retires ... as Messi intends doing
By the way, with one more assist, Zlatan becomes only the third player in MLS history with 20+ goals and 10+ assists in one season. The other two, Giovinco in 2015 and Valeri in 2017, were named league MVP their respective seasons. Unfortunately, Josef Martinez is setting a bigger record this season, so he might nab the award instead....
Amazing given all the great goal scorers who have played in MLS over the years. Especially amazing when you consider that Zlatan has done this in a bit less than two thirds of a season. His total minutes add up to the equivalent of only 22 games. And if you look at offensive output per 90 minutes Zlatan is easily the better of the two: Martinez- 0.99 goals + 0.16 assists Zlatan - 0.96 goals + 0.41 assists Zlatan is creating assists at 2.5 times the rate of Martinez.
https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2018/...wards-including-mls-mvp-league-announces-year Zlatan nominated for MVP, Newcomer of the Year, and Comeback Player of the Year. Admittedly, felt some Galaxy Pride seeing Zardes on the MVP list. I'd love to see him get another USMNT call up just to piss people off. No Gs on the Defensive Player list...shocking
They deserve to be there. Few players have been more directly responsible for goals scored in MLS this season.
Agreed - the league should have given both Kitchen and Skjiuvlk the coveted "Offensive Play Award" - simultaneously recognizing their general contributions to MLS offensive production while also recognizing just how offensive their (non-)play on the field has been over the course of the season. GDS of course would be another top candidate but he played too few games and cared too little to qualify.

Zlatan appears in Episode 4 of BleacherReport's CHAMPIONS animated shorts. Although, I advise watching from Episode 1 if you haven't seen it before.

Zlatan with then #1 selling shirt this year in MLS … not bad for a guy who doesn’t even make the top 20 of “big” MLS signings. https://www.mlsstore.com/top-sellin..._s=bm-MLSSocial-MLS-Top25Jerseys-Twitter-2018
Also third player in league history to reach 20 and 10 in a single season. And will probably finish 2nd in MVP votes (and really has a good case he should finish first). But he's no Gio....
