He might be referring to Austin possibly taking up an expansion slot once the whole Columbus relocation/non-relocation/purchase situation shakes out.
Good luck. I wonder if the colors will be the stl flag colors, green/blue/white or green/black/white like Enterprise. Im kinda pulling for the Enterprise colors, as that combo isnt being used yet.

they have shown so in the past; they used to support an outdoor team, an indoor team, a college team and a women's team all at the same time.
Yeah the area was always a hotbed for soccer. I recall the old NASL Stars didn't do all that well with attendance but that was over 40 years ago. The indoor Steamers, Ambush and the college teams always drew well. I don't think it will be another Atlanta but maybe somewhere above a Cincy and below a Seattle Sounders in drawing fans.
Simply not true. They led the league a few years prior to the big crowd days. During the big crowd days of Cosmos, Rowdies etc., they didn’t have a proper place to play.
They did? The Stars attendance average was always below 10k and their last year in 1977, they drew 9700. The other years I saw were below 6 & 7k.That was the height of the NASL when more than just a few teams (for that time) were drawing very well. The next year in 1978, they moved to Anaheim and became the California Surf. From memory, the Timbers ,Sounders, Earthquakes, Whitecaps ,Kicks , Rowdies and even the Roughnecks did better at the gate than the Stars did. San Jose was drawing 17,000 in 74/75 before Pele ever played for the Cosmos.
What you say is true, but remember that the league took awhile to develop. STL joined the league in ‘67 They led in attendance in ‘67 and ‘72 But the average attendance of NASL didn’t break 10K until ‘76. ‘77 was their last year because their stadium deal with Busch fell through and they had no where to play.
Yeah I’m thinking at that time when the old league was at its peak, or rather from 1978-81, they may have improved in attendance numbers. Probably more than the Surf got during that same period.
101ESPN @101espn With the all the issues STL has had with expansion, stadiums, etc...It's good to see #MLS4TheLou moving the ball swiftly towards the opposing keeper. #MLS Carolyn Kindle-Betz recently spoke with us about what comes next and the great support thus far: https://www.101sports.com/2018/11/16/mls4thelou-leader-thinks-group-has-an-unbelievable-application-for-an-expansion-team/ …
https://www.stltoday.com/sports/col...cle_df2ed587-a75d-51fb-a48c-e0e47463e501.html Some repeated information, but also some new stuff. It was previously reported that the ownership group had visited the Kansas City and two Los Angeles stadiums but apparently they toured Red Bull Arena also.
Still worried about the ownership clause. There is absolutely no reason the city should own this stadium. The Aldermen are correct in raising their concerns.
The city’s hopes of landing an MLS team has taken one big step forward thanks to a unanimous vote by a St. Louis Board of Aldermen committee. The board’s Housing and Urban Development Zone Committee voted 8-0 to provide tax breaks to the would-be owners of the soccer stadium in exchange for the ownership group to fully pay for construction of the facility.
