The ball was out of bounds, how does no one see that? And how does a competition like this have no VAR?

Renato should have won the game there.

Well, it does not take much to set him off :) (plus he did look good)

Sanches Best Portugal midfielder ever, that should do it :whistling:

This maybe the most talent Portugal ever had and that’s including the Golden generation.

How about Rúben Dias looking right at place playing next to Pepe?

William Carvalho, Ruben Neves and Renato Sanches could be a deadly MF with Bernardo the playmaker. Andre Silva finishing his chances.

    All this without CR7

That pass from Ruben Neves on that 2nd goal... holy cow what a beaut. And Bernardo's individual goal. And Cancelo's runs... And the team interplay - mixing wide plays with quick give and gos in the middle or then over the top passes. This is beautiful stuff. And then a reborn Renato coming off the bench... meanwhile 2-3 other quality MFs who are even called up?! Our depth at MF is sick these days.

The Great: Joao Cancelo...wow...we didnt even have him on the bench for the WC but right now he's looking like a top 5 RB in the World.
The Good: The over all team play mixed with individual moments of brilliance
The Bad: Me missing the first 35 minutes.
The Ugly: The Referee. Easily one of the most biased games I've ever seen. Spanish ref treating Portugal like crap? Shocker.
    Clear PK on Cancelo...no call
Foul on Silva and Rui on Poland goal..no call
Player goes out of bounds with the ball leads to Poland goal, it's all good
Punch to Andre Silva yellow not red
Cancelo goes through 2 players including a hurdle setting up a great scoring chance...stop the game maybe he hit his head...oh he didnt? ok then no problem.
    Blatant Elbow to Renato...no call

Why does Santos always like a mediocre fullback? Rui does absolutely nothing for me. Nothing is ever generated from his side.

Can you imagine if we had Semedo playing along with Cancelo? I want to know why Semedo is never called up. This makes Santos look kind of insane, honestly.

Portugal are practically in the final 4, which I believe takes place next summer.

At the moment, this is the final four lineup...

    France, Spain, Belgium & Portugal

    Some great games there, wow.

Really great game. I love seeing this team, they look happier uninhibited, a slap in the face for the many who were adamant about Portugal crashing down once CR7 would retire. The team's better off without him.

Yeah - holy cow. Poland's 2nd goal - the guy goes out of bounds literally in front of the line judge. How was that not called?! And what about VAR?? How did they not take that back. Bizarre.

Yes - good question about Nelson Semedo. How on earth isn't he even called up? Is the idea that's he's not as sure defensively? I've watched some Barca games and he seems to hold his own pretty well.
I agree: Semedo / Cancelo as full backs would be a lot of speed/fire power.

I believe they would play even better with him now, because they learned how to play without him and gained more confidence in their own abilities.

    If that makes any sense.

Or when he comes back, it would limit them because everything would have to be funneled through Ronaldo again. Without him, they look more comfortable and free. It's just the truth.

The truth is, if the team can play like they have been with Ronaldo in there, we have a legit title chance.

We started off struggling to connect passes but once we got into the game, we looked good on the ball and off the ball movement. The Bernardo/Cancelo partnership looked very good on the right hand side. Rafa/Rui didn't look as dangerous.

Defensively, we put more pressure on their back four and midfield which hasn't always been the case with Ronaldo on the pitch.

However, we still allowed Poland back into the game. We need to learn to make life easier for ourselves. The future is looking bright post-Ronaldo.
