I am inclined to sell Ramsey for whatever we can get at this time and buy a winger or two. Team needs time to settle in. Mkhi and Ramsey look pretty interchangeable to me at this time and Mkhi is probably ok with being on the bench. I think a base of Xhaka and Torreira with Ozil will work very well.

Not a rumor, just a thought for Jan... What if we were to Buy Zaha and then sell Ramsey or Ozil (swap for Bailly?) and Mustafi to fund a new starting CB and backup LB? Im not a huge proponent of playing PAE on the wing but he and Laca play pretty well together and a FW 3 of PAE/Laca/Zaha would be pretty scary...

    -------------------- Laca ------------------------
    -- PAE --------------------------------- Zaha --
    --------------- Ozil/Ramsey -------------------
    -------- Xhaka --------------- Torreira --------
Nacho -- Sokratis -- New Guy -- Bellerin

If there is enough money available you could also look for a #6 to run with Torreira but that could wait until Summer if need be.

Don’t see it really. We have miki and iwobi who are doing decently as FW, so I think it might not be a good use of funds as he wouldn’t be cheap—would be a scary front though.

If Emery is going to play this way without wingers, then we need to spend big on a dynamic LB and probably a CB as the best appropriation of funds.

After that, we need to sort out the Ramsey situation in January. After 5 games I haven’t seen anything great from him in Emery’s system so I’m inclined to sell.

Not sure we need a Ramsey “replacement” but what do you bundesliga people think of Kai Havertz? @The Jitty Slitter what’s your take? He’s only 19 and I like his size for the prem too—6’2” AM. Scores goals. Plenty of upside.

Havertz has to be in the 50 million range, no?

Ya, possibly. Not sure and not saying he’d be a bargain. Just thought he could bring similar things to the table as Ramsey—goals, versatility and I like his size for the prem.

    Baily? Lozano? Zaha?

    All lw we could buy

I really think Lozano could be the one

I hear our new guy from Barca likes Pavon as well

Lozano - I'll admit he looks good. Though I'm not as high on him because of a) my personal hatred for the Mexican National team and b) my apprehension about players from the Dutch league.
Bailey - like him a lot and would take him over Lozano given they would be a similar price and Bailey plays in a stronger league.
Zaha - love his game and the fact that he is HG. Slightly worried that he may not be a good enough passer.
Pavon - like him a good bit as well. Similar league concern as Lozano though I believe Pavon would be cheaper.

So I’ve read a lot and started to believe the narrative that Emery doesn’t play with wingers. But I think that’s only true at PSG once they got neymar and mbappe. Before that he played dimaria, moura and draxler.

At Seville he had vitolo, coke and our old buddy reyes.

At Valencia he had Pablo Hernandez and Joaquin.

So clearly he likes to play wingers or wide forwards. I think at the moment he’s just trying to get his best players on the pitch until he can get players that fit his style better.

Lots of buzz about us going after Hector Herrera from Porto. I admittedly am not a fan of MexNT and don't watch Porto but from what I gather via the internet Herrera is a natural pressing CM.

Also a good deal of buzz around us scouting a Senagalese W named Sarr. Media is dubbing him Dembele 2.0

Ismaila Sarr is supposed to be really good, but Dembele comps may be down to him playing at Rennes.

Reports surfacing that we have withdrawn our contract offer to Ramsey and will attempt to sell him in Jan or let him leave on a free.

Doesn’t make sense to sign Ramsey for Ozil money: his game won’t age well.

Tend to agree. Hope we can sell him in Jan. Would rather get something for him. Right now there looks to be some good options for free transfers next summer. Really hope we can take advantage of a few.

    Keep and eye on...

    Koke
Martial (may be looking to Italy)
    Rabiot (rumored to Barca)
    Shaw
    Angel Correa
    Areola
    Strakosha
    Di Maria
    Brahimi

Agreed. I'm ready to see Aaron go. Nothing against him, but he just seems to have stagnated here. And if he develops into a better player elsewhere, then that might tell us something about us.

Meanwhile, we can apply Ramsey's salary money to some new blood, maybe a real winger? Or how about a really good LB?!

And speaking of salary money, since we're not likely to be getting rid of Ozil any time soon, let's just pray that we start to see better return on that investment sometime soon.

Best of luck to Ramsey, but if the rumors are true then the club needs to replace him in Jan and he needs to drop to the B squad if not sold. I suspect though that once he is able to negotiate openly with clubs he may not find as many takers as he thinks.

If by miracle we are back in CL and offer him 200k/wk I just don’t think he’s going to get that from another CL club. Everton or west ham might pay him more. But if he wants Europe, United would be the only taker in England and there he’s stuck with Jose.

And likely not much PT. Between the depth they already have and the role Jose expects from his MF, I don't think Ramsey would get much time on the field for United.

Two sides to that though: as soon as a player makes up his mind to run his contract down, there isn't a lot you can do short of benching the player.

Where would he even go? Good to see Gazidis did a fine job till the end. Kroenke making moves seems like the clubs really on the ascendancy!!!

Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United. He's home grown and he is good. I'm fine with resigning him, just don't give 15 million quid a year to someone who's game won't age well at all.

They may all be interested but I'm not sure he would be a starter on any of those squads with the current players they have. Best bet would be Chelsea, assuming they don't sign Kovacic after his loan.

He may be interested in a move internationally though. Has expressed some interest in the past. Rumors of Gazidis trying to get him to Milan. If you look at their MF roster, there is actually a very good chance he would be an immediate starter. Would also have a good opportunity to start at Inter, Lazio, Napoli, Lyon, Marseilles or Monaco. Unfortunately for us, most of those would likely not buy him in Jan unless they become desperate.
