In terms of having the next top goalkeeper in the world, Brazil are looking pretty formidable. Ederson Moraes and Alisson Becker are both at a high level.

After ter Stegen, Germany is still waiting on the next NT calibre keeper to develop. Florian Müller is probably the closest with potential but still very far away.

fun fact Alisson Becker has German ancestry, although he can't speak German both his father/grandfather can. Even his wife has German ancestry. Karius replaced by another German keeper.:p

Was his grandfather a German national? Would that mean that he would have been eligible for the German NT?

don't think he so. But if his grandfather/father are Germans that I believe he could have been eligible for Germany. Not that he would play for anyone but Brazil.

Swiss trashed Iceland 6-0 in NL League A. Every single goal or assist was provided by either a current 1BL player or a past 1BL player.

also, lol England losing to Spain in NL, 2-1.

Italy have been rubbish in NL, 2 games played. 1 draw and 1 loss. Only 1 goal scored and it was a PK. Their group is Poland and Portugal.

meanwhile after Southgate criticized the lack of domestic player chances. Pirlo has done the same for Italy/Serie A and lower levels.

Pirlo hits out at Italian Coaches

Andrea Pirlo has hit out at Coaches in Italy for prioritising foreign players who ‘aren’t as good as our own’. “They lack courage.”

The topic of Italians not being given more chances in Serie A is back on the agenda for this international break, and Pirlo made it clear he agreed with Azzurri CT Roberto Mancini.

“Italian coaches lack courage. It’s been like this for a while: many foreigners aren’t as good as our own,” the former Juventus and Milan midfielder told La Repubblica.

“it also happens in Serie B and even in the lower Leagues. They probably cost less, otherwise I don’t see any reason for it.

“I think that for a CT, the problem refers mainly to the big teams: Inter, Juventus, Napoli and also Roma don’t play many Italians. The exceptions are Milan and Fiorentina.”

Looks like it's downhill for Croatia from here, they missed the window for their best chance ever to win a major tournament.

I find it interesting that all over the world, a lot of countries seem to be producing interesting prospects that come from the 00 age group.

Brazil for one had Paulinho getting integrated/playing time by Bayer. And now Vinicius Jr is being included in Real's 1st team squad.

Spain also has a decent number of 00 who already made their debuts or are close to making theirs.

well people can take Willi Orban off the list of Germany eligible players. The ex Germany U21 player who is eligible for Poland/Hungary/Germany has declared himself for Hungary.

also means that's one less RB Leipzig player that's open to the German NT.

Very strange considering the fading of Hummels and Boateng for the NT. Orban easily would be an option as successor of one of them.

he turns 26 this year, I guess he doesn't want to wait until he's almost 30 to play for Germany. So he went with someone else to get a chance now when he's still at a good age.

I think his RB teammate and also Hungarian Gulacsi might have played a role in convincing him for Hungary.

Not every player needs to play for 10 years for the NT, especially at defense I'm totally fine with a 28 year old prime player who gets selected for two tourney squads. What can he achieve with Hungary? It's not like he couldn't play for them earlier if that's what he really wanted.. In current form I don't see Boateng and Hummels playing as main central defense for the next 2 or 4 years, so there will be enough chances for the likes of Tah, Rüdiger, Süle and.. Orban. But well, it's on him and he decided the other way. A mistake in my eyes.

speaking of Orban who was never cap tied by Germany as his U21 games were only friendlies.

he played his cap tying game in NL as Hungary lost 1-0 to Greece.
