yeah I saw the billboard displaying the Costa Rica game during today's game.

I feel like they play all the time in NY. Meanwhile once in a while we'll get a game in Miami and its all the way in Hialeah (gross) no chance im driving all the way up there.

Hopefully i'll be going to the game against the USA with a friend who's a big fan of them.

I guess we have another two chances to win a title.

Eso debería ser cada 4 años, a los 2 años siguientes al mundial, es decir 2020 - 2024 ... etc

Seguramente esta neva edición será en USA también para ganar más plata

Both atmospheres should be pretty cool. When the USA plays in Tampa there's usually 20K-30K USA fans there. It will be interesting to see how many Colombians show up.

When Costa Rica beat USA in World Cup qualifying Red Bull arena felt like San Jose. Lot's of Ticos showed up in New Jersey. Should be a fun crowd too.

Tired of the US Hosting everything. It’s 2 years from now Brazil is next when is it Colombia’s turn again. Will be 19
Years since we hosted the last one if it’s in 2020.

Do they want it the same year as Europe cup? Seems pretty stupid as wont most people prefer to watch the european cup(not is but the casual fan?)

Remember something called different time zones? Most Euros are 11-4pm EST. Easily Copa can start at 4pm EST and not even have to compete.
Remember millions of latinos in USA alone. It's not just a european marketplace. Conmebol alone carries megastars that can carry an audience.

Why compete if you don’t have to.....

Seems silly. Also most people won’t spend all day watching soccer every day or any sport. Especially on work days. I mean I was “sick” every day colombia played and had to work from home :) but not everyone has work from home capabilities

most people have to go to work and can come home and watch live TV Copa America, hence it's a leg up for CA in the US vs the guys that can cut out at 11am for beers during work sessions. My point is that they DONT have to compete at ALL. You make it sound like all EURO matches will be clasicos...

No but have you to talked to most people in the US they think England has won every cup ever played. They will be last 4 WC champs are European. Why watch the Copa America. Also Mexico not going to the Copa America will they even show it in The Us?

Mexicans don’t care to watch colombia v Ecuador

Most people as in people that dont watch or know the sport. Messi is not European but he's a household name. Same for Suarez, Neymar, James...all South American just to name 4. If the US is playing in the tournament, you better believe that they'll be plenty of americans and media watching. Look at the Copa Centenario. You forget that that was ALL literally last minute. They did that tournament in no less than 2 months. Pretty much sold out most games in major stadiums not even small arenas and the product on the field was pretty good.

They (meaning Conmebol + Concacaf) wont have it here in the 2020 without the US and Mexico participation. Too much money to just say no. Plus the US is looking to validate their growth after not attending a WC. Copa America is the best true prewarmer that they'll play vs top opposition, sans WC.

Last but not least, In the USA alone, there are ~3mm south americans.
Centenario 2016: Ecuador v Peru posted 2.5mm TV viewers - Colombia vs Paraguay 3.5 mm TV viewers. These are as you say "meh' matches. Most matches had HUGE Live attendances considering the poor marketing last minute efforts and the high priced tickets.

Add to that even the smallest % of audience from Central America/Mexico which add up to ~40mm people. Let's say 2-5% so that's another 800m-2mm people in viewership and ultimately that's what sponsors want.

Summers are long, and you can fit tournaments in a way they don’t overlap too much, specially considering that after the first round games start to space out.

For example, the Euro in 2016 went from June 10th to July 10th, but after June 27th there were only 7 matches and in 5 of those those days no match at all. Conmebol could easily schedule first round games after the 30th and being only 12 teams, it would end by July 21st. And yeah, even when some game days overlapped, Euro games would be in America’s afternoons and the Copa America games would be later.

If it happens sure we will still have friendlies that month.

Think it was just Pekerman not wanting them but Peru has non fifa day games just like the cocacaf teams

Since our big rival is Venezuela. Would be cool if we had 2 non fifa games against them every year. Some teams do that. Think it’s paraguay v Chile or Bolivia seen it many times.

More we play the better. If these non fifa day games find us at least 1 player then they worked.

Fifa days should be used to find players as well. But just with more of the starters.
