I hope this goal gives him a confidence boost. Before he came on, the game was very stiff.

Maybe the pitch is better ;)

edit: on a serious note, it has always been a mental thing. If he starts scoring for the KNT, and can get confidence, he will get better. He has never lacked talent.

I didn't think he looked drastically better tbh than he has for the KNT/U23. His goal was brilliant, but so are many of his goal for the KNT (the freekick and header goals at the AG were amazing too).

But he still made some really odd decisions for his end product after doing everything right in building up to the decisive pass/shot. He needs to continue improving his end product, b/c right now it feels like at the end he has a 50/50 chance of getting right or wrong.

For instance, in the highlight video, take a look at what he does starting from the 40 second mark. He does everything right and looks amazing until the 44 second mark where he makes a stupid low percentage through ball pass rather than passing it to his right where his teammate could run into space.

Also take a look at his play at 1'43 seconds to 1'49 seconds. Amazing strength, ball control and pace to get free. But what is he doing going for a terrible low cross when he has two runners into the box that needed to head the ball? This is the same thing we see over and over from him at the KNT/U23 level.

As soon as he works out these decision making flaws, he will start making big money now that he has exemption.

In every single one of my saves/simulations in Football manager 2018, HHC always moved to a club like Wolfsburg or Mainz either the very first season or the season right after..

happy for the kid! that said, he is still that, a kid...the plays leading up to shows much promise but some of the passes are like...still needs much work.

But this is a great start and hope his manager can work him to the next level!

While I agree with your post, he even could've had two "assists". One was a great pass to Narey who hit the post (it's edited out, but it's the scene at 1:38) and the other would have been a pre-assist actually, but Narey got a penalty after a nice pass by Hwang (that Lasogga failed to score eventually). He looked like he tried to make better decisions imo. But as you said there were still moments where he had his old habits.
