Some personal news: I've put off talking about it for as long as possible, but it's no secret that I am taking the GateHouse Media voluntary buyout and today is my last day. I will be retiring, or semi-retiring. Many thanks to @statesman, where i've worked 35-plus years.— Kevin Lyttle (@klyttlesports) September 7, 2018
Yeah, well, as smart as I think those of us who hang out on an internet message board all day most certainly are, when it comes to this sort of thing, I put my full and total trust in Fischer et al. Not saying they'll get the deal done, only that they've swam in these water for many years and know what the hell they're doing. If, in the end, MLS pulls the plug on the Crew and exits Columbus, all of the blame goes to the league and PSV.
What if the NFL alumni running MLS believe their own propaganda about what a rotten market Columbus, Ohio is and/or think they’ll be better off in the long run by making an example out of us?
You might be right but I think PSV might want to get the deal for Mckella inked before they announce they will not play in Austin 2019
I agree. MLS/PSV have shown themselves to be lying scum bags multiple times. The Columbus prospective ownership group(s) appear to be negotiating in good faith. I don't think it is possible for bad people (MLS/PSV) to do anything in good faith. I hope the Crew is saved but I do not trust those f***ers one bit.
These are the same trash humans that can't give or receive driving directions with cardinal directions. Them: "Wait, wait, is that a right or a left?" Me: "Depends are you travelling North or South?" Them: "I can't follow directions like that, just give me lefts and rights" Me: "Ok, but if you miss a turn and get lost don't ********ing call me to tell you how to get from wherever your are to there" Them: "I'll just use my GPS" Me: [Facepalm]
But if they went all hipster with their vegan bacon doughnuts and peanut hutter ice cream doughnuts or whatever...
You don’t realize these are the same people that pay Erickson’s and Arace’s salaries do you? Hurting Lyrtle also hurts them.
While not a great donut fan, I did pick up my first Tupelo Doughnut offering last weekend at the Clintonville farmers market; a seasonal key lime glazed monster-sized thing. Delicious. I meant to split it with my wife, but somehow it disappeared on my walk home.
White Castle has stayed in business for decades using that exact paradigm. Oh shit, it's 3 am, I'm drunk on my ass and haven't eaten since noon. Where can I get food? Of course then you eat a dozen sliders and hate yourself for 48 hours but you solved the immediate problem
I seriously doubt that. For one I could see Garber having a personal grudge against Columbus but the rest of the owners/BoG don't. They may let him try to move the team with PSV but they are not going to let him flush hundreds of millions down the toilet for his own pettiness If the Columbus market looks viable and solid they are going to want to keep a team here. I think the NFL people know this better than most, they have successful teams in Detroit, Kansas City, Green Bay, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburg, and Charlotte. Columbus is in a way better situation than Cleveland and is growing faster with better GMP than Cincinnati. Garber may have his grudge and the NFL guys may not like how this is playing out but they are going to chase the money...and there is money to be had here.
So, back on topic... If you're all sick of crappy kids shows get your kid hooked on Phineas and Ferb. Might be a little early for some of you Peppa Pig, PJ Cat crowds, but my god they are actually funny. Like Warner Bro's adult humor laden funny. Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated alone is worth the effort. My daughter discovered this on her own (through friends, I'm sure) and I approve!
