Serious question for the lawyers: If the judge accepts the motion to dismiss in the Modell law suit, what options do Columbus or Ohio have? Can they appeal the dismissal? Who do they appeal it to?
Thanks, I must have missed his post on that one. Assumed it would be sealed but I thought that the fact it was filed would be reflected on the case via web.
AFAIK, they could appeal it to the State Appellate Court. https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/08/2...relocation-lawsuit-arguments-psv-precourt-mls
Yes, they could appeal to the 10th district court, which is also in Franklin County. I believe they could also try to ask for emergency injunctive relief to prevent the move from happening while the appeal is pending - although I couldn't tell you the chances of that being successful. We also often forget that if the team moves, there is certain to be another lawsuit filed by the county for PSV's breach of the Mapfre Stadium lease. You're probably just looking at money damages there for relief, though.
On the bright side... at this point either the Crew stays or the collapse of MLS begins. I think it's honestly gotten that bad for MLS over this past year
Judge Brown is an elected official in Ohio. For that reason alone i really doubt he rules to dismiss. If he did though ccc for his career and the Crew.
Some folks say soccer has already peaked and MLS will have a hard time attracting new fans. Of course, MLS has claimed it was totally different from other leagues while pulling this nonsense.
Thanks for the laugh! I kind of want someone to photoshop in a linesman's flag in his hand, so he can call himself offside.
Latino supporters in Austin are already concerned about PSV's lack of engagement with their community. I'm sure he'll reach out to them any day now lol.
Yes, MLS is different from other leagues. Nobody is actually watching it. http://worldsoccertalk.com/2018/04/19/mls-tv-ratings-concern-given-account-just-6-soccer-tv-viewing/ http://worldsoccertalk.com/2018/08/18/watched-soccer-games-us-tv-august-7-12-2018/
Not necessarily. There is still support in the Metro Council as a whole, but as with any project there are always some who want to scuttle it for whatever reason. What to do with the Fairgrounds has been a particular issue in Nashville for a while now and no one had ever come up with an idea until now. There are some who oppose public funding in any way for stadia and I respect that and don't necessarily disagree myself. But then there are just those who will fight against anything that isn't what they want to do. It's politics. Whatcha gonna do?
Sadly, most laws have been put into place due to irresponsible, illogical, and generally stupid individuals.
If we keep getting random lost love spells and questionable video content posts, have we officially made it? Are we getting the attention of the spammers that this is a hotspot to spam? Go us!
this man have to many queso dinners to fit into pants on my website u can check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Precourt
Don't take this personally, either. Like you, I'm not a Crew fan, but I don't perceive any contradiction between loving one's Club and hating the league within which it plays, just as I don't perceive any contradiction between loving one's country and despising its government. In any given moment, a significant plurality of the electorate finds itself in that position, if the polls are to be believed. I can also point out, as a Quakes fan, that the notion of supporting ones Club even after the demise of a league is not purely hypothetical. The Quakes have existed in multiple leagues dating back to 1974. If MLS went away tomorrow, I would still support the Quakes in the local police athletic league. So, I don't need to kiss Don Garber's ring to be a true Quakes fan.
How can they still not get it? Precourt & Pals don't give a ripe crap about Latin people, females or much of anything besides millennials.
