You mentioned your spouse and kids earlier.. This week my husband is getting a lot of mileage out of his “I’m not the one trying to move the team to Austin” when he feels I am getting pissy.
This is how we protect GC96 posts. Only the most brave will wade through this crap.* *The search function is a lie, and even if it's not, no one knows how to use it. Plus it's broken. #internetfacts
I was doing math on how many pages this has grown in the last 30 days and whether or not it was a good bet that IM would announce the saving of the crew on page 1996 or not. I think well save the Crew before then but we did increase page count by 300 in 30 days. A minor increase in sh*tposting could put us on track for a September announcement. So who wants whiskey this weekend?
They've got a live falcon, which flies around during the pregame show. It's actually pretty cool. Though in your heart of hearts, you know what it should be: Just change the outfit, brah!
Sign me up! Truthfully, though, I'm trying to be marginally good for the next week, since I'm attending BrewDog's annual AGM (for 'Annual General Mayhem') shareholders meeting on Aug. 25 in Canal Winchester: https://www.brewdog.com/usa/lowdown/blog/agm-its-party-time And I suspect I'll be somewhat less than well behaved there. Though if I run into James Watt, I'll hit him up for any details he knows about the Crew situation.
I cannot make the AGM (although, I suppose I may be able to in future years) and I do not drink, so I am unsure about investing in BrewDog.
I just ********ing love that song. Or maybe its her voice. Either way, i have never had a playlist that did not have that song Feel free to roll your eyes just like my sons do. If you have no taste, not my problem.
They are kicking around team names and colors over on MLS2ATx's Twitter feed. Need to start a push for McKalla (MK) Dons. It would be appropriate.
Little known fact: Archie Griffin was one of the initial local investors in the Crew. He kicked in the astronomical sum of $30,000. He probably lost it all when he didnt answer the cash calls, or maybe Pizzuti bought him out. Either way, it was strictly for the name value.
The Nutmeg had a piece yesterday about Donnie Wahlburg investing in an NWSL team. Pretty clever really. On my phone, can't link.
Alison Kraus (and Union Station) is/are a goddamn treasure. Anyone who rolls their eyes at Kraus may as well go blind as well as well as deaf as they are unable to understand beauty.
A second lame duck season in Mapfre under Tony Precourt's ownership is not what anyone wants, but that doesn't mean it can't happen if the other choices get blocked. Tony doesn't want to sell, not even as a part of a two-team solution. He has a functioning organization which it would take work and skill to replace. Whatever offer the Columbus group(s) make, he'll say he demands more. MLS really does want out of Columbus, and badly. For both Tony and Don, to some extent, it's personal. Plus, we don't actually know the identities of the groups seeking to buy. We don't know how much they offer, or what other terms. We don't know of they're the kind of personalities the other owners want in their exclusive club. And over-expansion does water everything down, especially the SUM profit split. Back in Columbus, the motion to dismiss is going to be denied. The bar to get past it is just too easy. Trial date is still scheduled for March. An injunction or other ruling to prevent an immediate move may easily happen.
The Wahlberg story makes me scratch my head. It seems odd to me CP would need to pursue this angle at all. Wouldn't think they need a "name" splash to help strengthen the ownership group if it was really strong,
I just don't buy it really. I doubt the guy will go from having no idea about the Crew a couple days ago, to throwing money into the collective face of CP. Also, isn't the whole point of CP and those groups having local ownership? How is Wahlberg local?
