we have gone from bad to worse which is really quite remarkable. the ship was listing, taking on water, but then managed to run aground and is now hopelessly lost and stuck on a shallow reef in a region of the soccer world that is inaccessible to rescue crews. somebody should tell the landlubber owner. he already knows? ahh, just doesn't care? not interested? really? makes sense. sink baby sink.
not a pretty picture at a time when the distraction of good game would be really helpful. I wish there was something, anything, about Tom Fox and his meeting with the expensive seat fans that gave me even a glimmer of hope that we could save the ship and point it towards competitive waters.
when you think about it, it is outrageous that Quakes fans are paying some of the highest prices in MLS with the worst return on entertainment value. Quakes are 7th in ticket revenue. I wonder how much money that is...
not enough to bring in the players we need, apparently. and yes, outrageous is right. it's a charade and a complete fleecing of the good soccer-loving community in and around San Jose. the more I ponder this the more I am convinced that it is only once people refuse to pad Fisher's pockets by buying what he's peddling, only then do we have any hope that he will sell and this team will land in the hands of someone who understands (and cares about) building a team that this community can be proud of.
i'm going to make myself persona non grata with the Quakes, but it's time to start complaining about this. Loudly.
trouble is, we haven't had much consenus on this, although I think it's becoming obvious to everyone who is somehow still interested. but I'm all for trying a more constructive approach (organizing a legitimate boycott?) rather than complaing (whining - paging JazzyJ ) all day on BigSoccer. I wonder how we could pull off such a thing, could we get fans united in making such a statement?
that's too bad, JazzyJ is someone who's heavily invested in this forum and whose counterbalance I really appreciate. hopefully stops pouting soon. I wonder if I should start a boycott planning thread and we can collaborate on how best to do this right here, out in the open, in our forum, or would that fall flat and folks really don't care to take a stand and try something like this as an effort to reclaim our team? just thinking out loud and wondering if there's any energy for such an idea, or not?
For #SaveTheCrew, i proposed an idea of "A Week without MLS", where people would not visit mlssocer, not use the mls app, unsubscribe from Extra Time Radio podcast, unfollow anyone associated with MLS, etc. For one week. Of course, no one picked up on that, but maybe something similar for Quakes?
We're not a named brand team or city so we're not going to get the cream of the crop in any role unless we pay WAY above whatever the market dictates. Assuming that isn't going to happen you get two choices: 1) Someone with no experience but has potential 2) Some one who has failed trying but has learned from that (those) failure(s) I wasn't in the interviews for any of these folks, but I hope it's number 2 and their failure stories are deep.
Going to be hard for me, because I don't usually visit the league's website, use apps at all, or listen to podcasts of any sort. I don't tweet or befriend Russians on Facebook, either.
Who's the Galaxy's team president, again? ". . . [Chris] Klein, a product of St. Louis, Mo., was named President of the LA Galaxy in January of 2013. It's xG data, so feel free not to believe it. " . . . The unluckiest team is San Jose, earning 12.6 fewer points than expected. While they are favorites to take home the Anthony Precourt Memorial Wooden Spoon, perhaps San Jose isn’t bad, but rather mediocre and unlucky. . . ." https://www.americansocceranalysis....at-xpoints-tells-us-about-the-2018-mls-season
Because soccer and high tech are synonymous! Tell you what...if we create one of the best soccer academies in the world, then we likely won't have a hard time attracting talent either.
not much, just the usual 1. picket line 2. a protest march to the match 3. We all line up in front of the entrance and throw wooden spoons over the gate. 4. paper bags over our heads at games with lots of selfies posted on instagram and twitter like the one below 5. banners bells and signs at games 6. put stahreout jesseout foxout fisherout stickers everywhere in the stadium and outside the stadium 7. burn something in effigy (Q? a bobblehead?)
