    That's not how that works.

I was a harsh Leo critic during his early days but I also noted his improved play toward the end of his tenure. I think maybe Berks and a couple others did as well.

Same with Ciani - his play last season was atrocious and I wasn't shy with that opinion. However I think I may have been the first, definitely one of the first, to comment this season about his improved play. I'm still not a fan but in some of our games he is the most active and effective defender we have - which says more about the sad state of the rest of our defense than about him. To that point - in the last game when Ciani had to come out I was wondering how Steres would do in his place. Only took a minute or two for me to miss Ciani. (Never thought I would write that last phrase!)

Well, because you could have just waited until the end of the 2016 season, then got Omar anyway, no? All the $5M you're wanting to throw away would only be needed to bring Omar in one season sooner. I think you would have been ripped apart because people would have said "why would the Galaxy bring Gerrard in for half a season, then cut him loose, sacrificing $5M, and not at least see what he could do after being acclimated a bit and having a full pre-season under his belt in 2017?" I can support the concept of not bringing him in at all, but to bring him in and pay him $7-8 million, sell a bunch of Gerrard shirts at $180 a pop to your unsuspecting fans, then send him on his way after four months? What manager is going to make that move?

I'd actually like to see us go for Giroud once Ibra hangs up the cleats. I think he is well suited for this league.

For those who are still hoping for a summer signing, Roderick Miller is not training with the team anymore.

At this point, the best signings the Galaxy could make might be for the future, such as guys like Mendez and Llanez from the Academy (both of whom are or recently were on trial abroad).

Perhaps, but we won't play them. Alvarez has been top notch everywhere he has played. However, does anyone see a path for him to get meaningful minutes with the first team? I shutter to think where Alphonso Davis would be in his career if he came up through our system.

Too bad he didn't do this sooner, like before the end of the transfer period.

I wonder how this worked/works. Did the Galaxy transfer him? If not are the Galaxy still on hock for part of his salary in terms of cap space for the remainder of the season?

Clearly a signing and a major waste of TAM that should have never happened. Thanks for nothing Jovan!

The transfer window in Greece ends Aug 31. So, we either sold him for cash or we let him go on a free transfer. It frees up a roster spot (for this season if we want to sign an unattached player) and his salary space. The TAM was spent on his transfer fee, however, so I don't expect we recoup any of that because it was already paid out even though the budget charge was spread out over several years. That means that unless we got a fee for the transfer, Pedro will occupy some dead cap space or TAM space for several years.

UPDATE: Just saw that it was a loan. In that case, it just frees up a roster spot and gets him some playing time to possibly increase his value for a possible future transfer.

If that's the end of his Galaxy career...what a flop of a signing. How would JK and PV defend that signing now in retrospect. They can only possibly acknowledge they were wrong right? Someone should ask them.

Now to get rid of the rest of dead weight. As mentioned before, let's cut off the head of the snake-- get rid of PV.

I don't have any ill will towards Joao Pedro. None of this is his fault. If some moron wanted to pay me a decent wage to pay soccer abroad, I'd do it too. I'd suck just as bad, but I'd do it.

I agree about the dead front office weight. I can also agree that he lacked ability. But in all of the games I watched him play for the senior squad, I noticed a distinct lack of effort (Gio's disease). I can forgive a lack of talent (like Garcia), but not a lack of effort.

We currently have at least four roster spots open (and theoretically one more with the departure of Joao Pedro), that's a lot. Kevin Ellis is not a world beater but was having a good season with Chicago, they just released him. At this point why not sign him for the rest of the season? If Juninho wants to come back at a low salary to try to revamp his career, how could it be a bad idea?

I don't really mind that risk on Pedro. He was a young player who showed promise in portugal and we took a chance that he could work in the MLS. The league was a little too physical for his liking though. Not every risk will pay off and this was one of those ones.
