Imagine writing this much, in multi quote format, just to explain that you are writing on a message board. Incredible.
Probably for the same reason he used to blast the Spanish-language version of Scorpions' "Winds of Change" in the parking lot after matches - the mind of Big Kev is a strange and wondrous thing.
It's not the word "sale" that you are being challenged on. The challenge came when you said Columbus owners didn't do what was needed to buy the team in 2013. Columbus owners came with what was asked of them, they weren't given notice that an outright "complete sale" of the team was an option. I stopped drinking soft drinks at the beginning of summer and have lightened up by 13 lbs.
For 400 million? Absolutely. But who is gonna spend $400-500 million on an MLS team at this point. I'm not sure anyone has taken over a MLS team for close to that, though I may be wrong. Valuation is one thing. A house can be shows as 1.2 million dollars on Zillow, but you still need someone to offer 1.2 million for it to be real. And to be clear. I wasn't thinking about down the line in 2021 or whatever. I was going off the mindset of him increasing the value and trying to flip it more immediately. And if we are under the assumption that these ownership groups from CP are smart people, there is no way they are going to pay an inflated value after seeing the nuts and bolts of MLS. They know a bit more how the sausage is made now. He may sell in the more near term, but I think that is only if he is forced too. I don't think you go through all this bullshit for less than that massive payday you are talking about. And I don't see that massive payday coming.
FYI in today's Dispatch Arace seems to think that MLS has offered Columbus an expansion team.... http://www.dispatch.com/sports/2018...ecourt-will-have-to-fight-way-out-of-columbus First I've heard of that.
Most likely a reference to last year’s comments by Garber/MLS that Columbus could just get in that (incredibly) long (and corrupt) line for an expansion team (where you will never be selected). Or I could be remembering it wrong.
Because it's Friday and I'm in a good mood. Let's address another default position here that deserves skepticism. That is that "Anthony Precourt doesn't like being an owner." Where on earth is this coming from? Go back to Precourt buying this team. Look at how he chose to come in and interact with the fans. Coming in like a white knight. Buying beers for the supporters groups. Showing up on podcasts. Having the most cheesy and ridiculous social media presence on twitter. He didn't move to Columbus, sure. But he sure liked being an owner. He enjoyed the adulation and he came in for hits and boosts to self esteem whenever he needed it like a junkie. He threw himself onto the expansion committee. He talked about his friendship with Merritt Paulson. He threw himself into discussions about US Soccer. He tweeted from his car about listenening to Every Rose Has It's Thorn and Bittersweet Symphony. He posted pictures from Rock on the Range watching Red Hot Chili Peppers at the stadium he owned. Thing is, we all looked for evidence of this guys existence from before the days he owned the Crew. There is none. This is all he has. This is his identity. That he went quiet after the announced plans for the move doesn't mean he doesn't want to be an owner anymore or doesn't like it. Chances are someone smarter than him probably said, "It's best that you just be quiet and stay out of sight." And he listened that's all. We all assume that this is a guy living off his dad's money. We look for accomplishments outside of his ownership and see none. This is a guy who is desperate for a seat at the cool kids table, and he views sports ownership as his way to do that. There is nothing to suggest that has changed.
There's a certain irony to the Austin-Columbus-PSV love triangle ramping up just when we get the La Liga news. It's a reminder that MLS does NOT have the leverage of the NFL or NBA. It never will. Even in their early days, the NFL and NBA were the global pinnacles ...— Beau Dure 🇺🇦🌈🖖☮️ (@duresport) August 16, 2018 Beau Dure bringing it in this THREAD.
Using faulty generalizations to justify a critique of faulty generalizations. This message board is winning the Internet this morning.
The expansion angle has been talked around a couple times. Garber made his comment that they were in talks about an expansion team and Fisher fired back that we are only interested in current iteration of the Crew. Not sure if an official offer was made or not, but it seems MLS thinks one was.
Before this gets edited (no offense to you, I make typos all the time and then edit), our Photoshop people, please!
So the only thing that moves me from aaa to bbb or possibly ccc is the expansion angle. Precourt has his deal and is moving to Austin and will begin play in 2019. We are hoping to have our team or an expansion (not desired but better than none). Two cities Two teams Only one team currently exists. Is there enough time for the league to say: Hey everyone, we are doing an expansion draft for Cincinnati and now also for team B?
Ill take a free expansion team. They can have the roster we have after Trapp, Steffen leave for Europe. Higuain retires and the rest are mediocre.
